Well, I just started using Bitcoins and have read a few of the intro threads about it. So I have set up a CPU Miner at BTC Guild, and according to the miner, it's working, but it says at BTC Guild "0.00 MH/s" under worker speed. I don't know if this will update when I actually earn some bit coins or not... but I would like to know if I have it set up right or not. Also, I don't know if I'm able to receive bitcoins... I wanted to test this, but apparently the bitcoin faucet isn't working (I read a post that it was dry  Sad) I found another Bitcoin faucet at Bitcoin Street faucet, but the bitcoin program still says balance 0.00

Is there a way to assure this is all working and I can actually Send/Receive bitcoins too?

I'm very excited about this!! Smiley

In order to see if the second faucet ever sent you anything, you can go to http://blockexplorer.com/ and search the address you used with them.

It's possible you haven't finished downloading the block chain. Does the client say you have this many blocks?

Is there a way to tell the miner is working?

After you download all the blocks you should start getting a hash rate above 0. In general that means it's working, but each mining software is different.

Ok, it downloaded all of the blocks and I got my .01 bitcoin! And I left my miner on over night and I think I can tell it's working now... does this look right?

Code:
10.06.2011 01:56:20   Accepted
10.06.2011 03:08:05   Accepted
10.06.2011 03:58:12   Accepted
10.06.2011 09:00:44   Accepted

I think that little bit means it did something, and I now have uncomfirmed rewards in BTCGuild. (From what I read I have to wait for them to verify or something?)

Appears to be working, but I'm not familiar with whatever miner you're using or BTCGuild, so I can't give you any further info.
