I wouldn't think I'd need much technical expertise but when I load the program all I get is unable to connect to server.  I've tried uninstalling multiple times.  The tutorial is no help at all because this first step isn't even addressed.

on wich os are you triying to install it?  when you enter your username and password into the server config, you have to modify one file too  in openbazzar folder who is located (in linux) under usr/share    , this folder is named: ob.cfg file (in the OpenBazaar-Server folder) ,
Scroll down until you find these lines:
#USERNAME = username
#PASSWORD = password
Remove the # in front of USERNAME and PASSWORD
Change the username and password to whatever you want, for ... and you should be done with your server fully working ..  relaunch your openbazzar setup , enter the same credentials you've put in your ob.cfg fine ... and GO !   Cheers!  Grin

Got it working.  I'm shocked this step isn't included in the tutorial.  Should be more user friendly.

Yeah and weren't we told that anarchists were a group of people who didnt care much right.  Its funny how people will go out of their way to help you for no reason even when they aren't forced.

I cannot get it to work!!!

I get unable to connect to server. It might be something with my router.

My router forwards incoming TCP connections on ports 18466, 18469 and 18470 to my desktop, where OB runs.
I also tried to use UTP for these ports.

I changed to use Username and Password

I installed fresh on Ubuntu 15.10 (deleting /usr/share/openbazaar and ~/.openbazaar first) via Ubuntu Software center and then started in a Terminal openbazaar.

The GUI starts. I fill out the form and it hangs to try to connect to the server. The terminal shows only entries like:

[STR] stdout "2016-05-12 16:24:58+0800 [Server] [WARNING] no known neighbors, so not writing to cache."

Any idea how to get it to work?

I think it might be to late to join this conversation but I have the same issue. Can somebody say if they fixed this problem?
i dont want to make a new post because the problem is exactly the same and I have not found in github a solution.
