Ethereum is still in a very early stage, and I have no doubt that it can achieve an interesting market capitalization, but bitcoin always will be the pioneer, the most popular altcoin and nothing can displace its accumulated prestige, despite the multiple advantages that new altcoins could offer.

Today they had a terrible price, eth price moves very fast and it's more unstable than bitcoin, anyway i doubt that something else than bitcoin will replace bitcoin.
i dont get why anyone would want to invest in it the 1st place. is it needed somewhere or something? am I missing some vital info that makes it worth while to invest.. Because if you are a good trader you can make good money, but investing in eth is very risky because the price changes too often and there are lots of pumps and dumps so you have to be lucky to earn sometimes. It's in their early stage but bitcoin is older.

When it is already hard to get the simple bitcoin concept accepted by mainstream, I think it is going to be difficult for most to understand what ETH is...

I can't see ETH ever replacing bitcoin, it's a different concept. Maybe LISK will replace ETH one day who knows.

Lisk will replace ETH and we will see that soon but for ETH to replace bitcoin wont be happening in the years to come.

Who is They? The founders? Of course they say that, like any other altcoin founder would say.
majority of the people that have more ETH than BTC would say that. it's called being hopeful. it is not impossible for some alt to replace bitcoin but reaching into that conclusion in few months because of price spike are just stupid.

Was bitcoin dead in 2013 when it went from $250 in April to $76 in july 2016? Price fluctuations are mostly irrelevant. I have both btc and eth and will continue to accumulate both. bitcoin=gold or money eth=oil or gas
that is a good way to explain the difference between them for the man in the street. They both have a place.

ETH might replace bitcoin when it has a real user base and a range of clients i.e. not now, and not soon.

Can anyone tell me why Lisk is going to do anything? It's a copy of an already failed alt as far as I can tell.

It´s trading at a cent to bitcoin´s dollar so it won´t threaten or replace bitcoin any time soon. It´s the same as penny stocks, they´re always going to be the next great thing but most of them stay worthless because there is no value to speak of.

Yes with that it can compete with bitcoin but for now there are lots of people who are still believing in bitcoin and with eth fail to get some sponsor they need more innovation to get more clients.

going to tripple digits they said..
Speculations as always. In an altcoin, just because the coin boosted from let' say 100% - 200% increase, it doesn't mean we have to considered it as a valid and strong basis to replace bitcoin. And with such increasing numbers of altcoins, which some of them also experience some price growth, the market will just have a rotational price. Meaning traders has lots of options to invest and trade with. And pointing to ETH, it's clearly a whales movement unlike in BTC that can keep up now even with the small efforts of the whales.

I think by far the most interesting aspect of this all is that there's just been a ginormous bubble where millions could've made in weeks yet Bitcoin itself did essentially fuck all. Same goes for LTC. That's pretty much unprecedented.
If this is the wave of the future then that's a bit depressing for those who are somewhat dim/risk averse/sensible such as my fine self.

I guess that will not happen, I think ETH is only a coin that are popular today, a time when its popularity will be lost, in contrast to bitcoin is always used even when the price is going down

the more they spammed and spread their FUD about bitcoin, and with every single one of those bots that are spamming here in speculation board about bitcoin being dead and replaced with eth, i became more sure that ETH is nearing the end.
it might not be its complete end but it is heading towards it.
