Howdy there!

We've just finished developing our first (of many to come) Bitcoin WordPress plugin. This particular one was inspired by the original Bitcoin Gem script.

Concept

The idea is pretty simple - visitors on your site purchase your designated Game Object (in the demo, we use a ruby) for a particular price, hoping someone buys it again after them to make a profit. At a random interval (or if no purchases happen within a timeframe), a purchase will trigger a reset and the Game Object will go back to it’s starting point.

The unfortunate soul who’s purchase triggered the reset (all publically verifiably random with math) won’t own the Game Object anymore, so whatever they paid goes to you as the site owner to keep.

This plugin is fully documented with a convenient startup wizard, and allows for near infinite customization of how you want to run your chain game. Rather than continue to write on and on about what it can do and how it’s amazing, I’ll just post screenshots for your viewing pleasure.

Obviously this software is best kept in as few hands as possible, and as it’s nature is of a money-generating sort, we've priced it as follows:

first 5 people: 55 BTC 25 BTC
everyone else after that: 85 BTC

FAQs

55 BTC 25 BTC? That's too expensive.

We'll, yes you're somewhat correct. 25 BTC is a lot to pay for something, but that's the point. If we were to sell this plugin at lets say 1 BTC, then in theory 25x more people will be running their own bitcoin chain games.

With that many games being played, branded, marketed, rinse and repeat, they'd get a lot less special and overall less profitable. Whereas if there are only a few out there - guaranteed by having a higher price - each is much more significant, unique, and less common.

The original bitcoin gem at one point got to about 120 BTC (as seen below), so with the proper branding and marketing, it's completely up to the individual to decide if this price point is worthwhile.

We completely meant to have that replaced with customization text - we were using it as a placeholder. So sorry for the delay on that!

The guy isn't even attempting to compete with the established chains, not that it's an original concept to begin with. While he probably shouldn't have posted this thread while his demo resembled a near perfect replica of the bitcoin gem (and called the thread the Bitcoin Gem WordPress Plugin), all the guy is doing is providing the framework for people to deploy their own niche chains. Chances are these spinoffs won't match the popularity or reputation of the established chains so I doubt the site operators have much to worry about in that regard. Additionally, the guy who made the gold bar seems pretty keen on selling his script to people so it was only a matter of time before these chain sites became prominent anyways.

Alrighty, so I'm sensing some distrust here - understandable.

Since my own reputation has yet to be established, I'd like for someone with a valid reputation to try out a copy of the plugin free of charge, and post an honest-as-it-gets review.

If you have more than 2,000 posts, actively contribute here, and promise to write your honest opinion of the software from install to implementation in the form of a reply in this thread, let me know.

...post the source code to github which would have to do anyway so people can use it.

We host our own custom plugin repository for managing delivery of initial plugin files and updates using the built-in WordPress hooks to do so.

OP updated, price lowered to just 25 BTC for first 5 people. Standard price after those 5 people will remain the same to prevent inflation of the plugin & Bitcoin Chain games.
