Someone pls put memory in order, from best to worst: samsung, micron, hynix, elpida
I always have been told : Hynix, Samsung, Elpida, Micron Hm.. I use a lot of cards and my experience is that Samsung is better then Hynix. So my preferred order is Samsung, Hynix, Elpida, Micron.

I'd say 1. Samsung 2. Hynix 3. Micron/Elpida (Elpida is a subsiduary of Micron) But it all depends on the system architecture around it.

Also it very depends what hynix and what samsung. There is 3 versions of samsung chips for example, 'FE' (4GB) are best and 'FC' is worst. Also same Samsung memory does not work same on different brands. For example 8GB mostly works good on every card except ASUS 480 8GB wich is the worst card ever. (still need to check 580 version, but I bet it's same crap) Same as Hynix, same 4GB memory does not work good on NITRO+ but it works very good on other Sapphire cards and other brands. For elpida so far i found it works very good on every card brand. Only memory chip that likes both ASM1 and ASM2 kernel.

Ihave a lot rigs with different memory. So this from me:
Samsung is the best. NITRO+ with hynix works perfect. Elpida - pain in ass, but also works good.

If you're using nVidia cards, then:
Samsung Micron Hynix (better return it)

"improved support for systems with more than 10 GPUs, check readme for "-di" and "-mode" options description for details."
Yeah! No more moving cards 11 or 12 down the order to set mode 1-... Happy happy, thanks Claymore! You're awesome!
Which doesn't answer the question of why some cards, from the same lot with the same memory, run stable at 72 degrees/60% fan in a server room with exceptional (and exceptionally loud!) airflow, and others max out and throttle at my limit of 78 degrees/100% fan in eth only mode.
I was assuming some GPU manufacturers forgot the thermal paste on the asic/heatsink junction? And that I'll be taking a lot of cards apart soon enough... Anyone with experience in this issue?

Not the case here, i have 6xAsus 480 8gb samsung cards , 3 fan edition, and i can say those are the best cards i have (and i have nitro+oc 8gb samsung etc..). 3 months since i modded and run them (were giving 30.3mhs back then), and from then it's working like a charm, maybe had 1 or 2 freezes total. Temperatures are great, about 65c and they are working so quiet. So i don't agree with you, sorry
