Hi there,

if the cost of power is not an issue, what would be the best investment in mining hardware right now? How do you calculate the ROI of a mining HW investment? To simplify the calculation lets assume there is a free and stable 10kW power source. How many BTCs can be made per day out of 10kW?

Options:
- buy used GPU mining rigs?
- buy FPGA rigs? New or used?
- preorder ASICS Huh

Right now, buy bitcoins. Unless you already have ASIC on order.

Order an ASIC or 2 and wait for them to be delivered
BFL Singles or other FPGA that has trade in value for an ASIC.
Better hurry if you go the FPGA route since ASICs have hit the market

Buy GPUs on Amazon and you should have at least 30 days to return them without a re-stocking fee.

Buy Avalons, they exist and work, of course who knows when they will get around to actually shipping them.

Or wait and see what happens in the ASIC market in the next month or two.

Buying GPU's just seems plain silly unless you have a secondary use for them.

+1 for buying coins. If you are too worried about the volatility, hold on to your capital till the ASIC dust settles. Its too late to get any skin in the game now if you haven't already got any (i.e. you ordered batch 1 for either Avalon or BFL).

Guys, thanks for your answers. But I am still not really sure about where I get the most hashing power for one USD. Only buying GPU-mining rigs does not seam like a good idea right now.

I recommend you also trying this calculator. Looks pretty neat: http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/

There are no good HW investments right now.

The best place to put 1usd is in your wallet. If you think btc will rise in value then buy bitcoins, but that is far from guaranteed. When the ASIC world settles a little you will be in a position to buy pretty much the same as now, without the risk of preorders being bs and blowing up in your face.
