The sad part is that if you buy CS:GO keys (1.9-2$) or skins from BitSkins and resell them on the steam community market, you get funds for 10-20% off.
Maybe if steam introduced this earlier, people wouldn't have begun doing this, but now that this way exists.... I doubt I'm going to directly buy steam funds with BTC.

No longer active on bitcointalk, however, you can still reach me via PMs if needed.

i think the effect on price will be noticeable slowly, but it is going to be a great effect mostly because it is a reputable and big company like valve that is accepting bitcoin not a small deal. and it will expose bitcoin to millions of users worldwide.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

But do people still buying games through steam though ?
There are already alternatives where you can buy steam games cheaper than the steam itself
Let's say G2A, GreenManGaming, HumbleBundle

And three of those companies already accepted bitcoin even before steam did, Steam is a little bit late to the party here Tongue
Though, I do like the fact we can fund our wallet with it, I can buy CS:GO skin cheaper rather than buying wallet from other websites

Steam is still the number one place for people to buy games. Some people are not using other retailers and thought of it as grey area which is not 100% legal.
Plus Steam Sales are legendary - and during that time you want usually buy everything you ever wanted.

And AFAIK you can't buy games for bitcoin in Humble Store - only Humble Bundle - and sometimes even that option is blocked because certain publishers don't want bitcoin payments.

First transaction ever in Steam (video)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1451815.0
I am just wondering why it took this long to get this enabled on their gaming interface as a method to pay for their products? Problems with getting it to work properly perhaps?

I'd rather buy games directly with my bitcoins rather than to fill my wallet with bitcoin first and buy games with it.

The price of bitcoin is so volatile and i think it will continue to rise, so i'd rather hodl my btc.

Btw, i've bought 3 games with bitcoin, the transaction was very fast (0 confirmation) so don't be bothered by long confirmation time.

This is exactly the kind of news I was hoping to hear, more places you can spend your bitcoins means the more people will buy it and it will ultimately affect the price or at-least keep it stable. As more and more businesses who conduct their business online start to do this, we can accept an increase in bitcoin adoption.

I'd rather buy games directly with my bitcoins rather than to fill my wallet with bitcoin first and buy games with it.
Huh Not sure what you mean.

Its been quite stable for some time, with minor ups and downs which is accepted.

You can and Bitcoin has been an option since BTC was at around $415, at least that's what the video shows. This past week and most of last BTC has been over $440. Also Steam accepts Bitcoin for what seems to be all purchases on the store, including hardware.

Well, this just proves that more and more merchants on the internet and on the streets are getting to know and accepting bitcoins. Steam is a very popular gaming platform, and I'm sure that more gamers will be able to take a look at BTC as well.

Hopefully this can result in a positive influence on bitcoin's future.

Yes, there are no limits to bitcoin purchases. You can purchase everything Steam offers directly - and even if some items, or in game transaction would not accept bitcoin payments directly.
After all there is option to add funds to your Steam wallet via BTC payment and then buy anything you want.
