According to the manufacturer:
Quote
This ASIC chip is built from a 152nm CMOS process

When they released the first batch for order they seem to have started shipping a few days later, but now per-orders with at least a month and a half waiting time is never a good sign having to wait too much! And then the delays start and then something else pops up and so on and so on, so be very careful

I believe they have the machines, but they need to spend at least a good month 'testing' them for their customers to make sure they work first Wink

152nm?

Didn't think ANYONE still had that ancient of a process node available.

On the plus side, definitely a cheap-to-design-for node, makes it a lot easier for the "consortium" to make a profit on the things and perhaps do a "next gen" machine a year or two down the road on a more efficient process node.

 Weren't the original GC3355 on a 55nm process node?
What where the first ASIC for Bitcoin on for a process node?

So how long until X11 is nigh worthless as an algorithm and something else moves in?

probably the same tiem frame as it was for scrypt, so at least 1 two year, until all the big money move on something else, new algo and new coin

right now they have dash to mine and some other crap here and there, but it will not last, because those asic are fucking profitable, which mean that buyers will eventually buy those instead of buying the coins

this will reduce demand drastically, like with litecoin...

Sorry, as a mining algorithm. Like scrypt was invented as something for GPU miners to mine who couldn't afford to mine BTC because of ASICs, wasn't X11 developed for GPU miners to mine who couldn't afford to mine scrypt? Not saying LTC is worthless, but it's been kinda heading that way for a long time now.

For the record, I am very cynical about altcoins in general.

that's not the point, those asic can reach roi in one mont, and then earn you something like 4 btc per month, you must admit this is one hell of a profit for only 750w

it's all about profit, it does not matter if it come from alt from btc or anything, i would buy one of those immediately if they were available...

The X11 ASIC will only achieve 1 month ROI if you're one of the very first to get one - and there aren't a lot sold for a while causing the difficulty to skyrocket and the reward to plummet.

Even if you were one of the folks that got one of the FIRST batch units, though, I don't think 1 month ROI is a reasonable expectation - more like 1 YEAR as I recall from calcs on it?

Rapid ROI on any coin any more is unrealistic - the new name of the game now that ASICs are catching up with semiconductor state-of-the-art is "get your electric cost DOWN and expect to take many many months or years to achieve RoI".

Not only that....look at the below review...it beats them up pretty good.

I contacted them and could have been one of the first orders..but passed.....too much risk at my end...no real risk at their end...same music different asic band Sad

The 90 day warranty only on such stuff is what concerns me. I have KNC Titans and by the time they managed to get firmware to work with all the pools for LTC and ALTS for that KNC equipment..IF they would have been able to keep a 90 day warranty....it would only be an LTC miner .took them MORE then 3 months to fix...BUT they messed up and did not fix their web sales page on the warranty the first month of Titan sales  a big bo/bo that saved Titan owners imho headaches indeed...so they had to honor a 1 year warranty...but my point is...this stuff is SO new...that you lose a month just figuring out what is not working so you have 2 months for the manufacturer to fix the issues with firmware..but with a 90 day warranty..hell they could just walk away....in fact KNC pretty much walked away from the firmware improvements after 5 months .....lied and said all the stuff gen tarkin does with his 3rd party knc titan firmware mods was impossible (i asked back in the day.....their techs were as dumb as a box of hammers)

Add the whole at your 'risk'  pre-order and usual LATE release by 2-4 months of most miners of ANY flavor historically  on top of that and the fact HOME mining is dead....not a frigging lot of incentive even if the above could ROI say in 8 months (which would still be scary and likely not include electricity)

and of course the ROI above from the quoted message in this thread..ie a moot point..if you got one you are already in deep do do even without the below review.

anyway the review

http://cryptomining-blog.com/7752-what-we-dont-like-about-the-ibelink-dm384m-x11-asic-miner/

pays to be frigging paranoid as heck about all this stuff (I at one time as a newbie drank the BFL kool-aid..I got a refund by a miracle 1 year 20 days later (one of the few) but still....that
sense of wtf dread that year and 20 days.....keeps me on the ASIC anon path of I will frigging NOT pre-order (w/o PayPal at least and 45 days for them to get me something) nor 90 day warranties.....(I attract lemons)

live an learn...cypto..always drama!

It is just a name. It does not mine two algorithms. This is a X11 miner. It does not mine anything else.

Dual Miner is a DEALER/DISTRIBUTOR selling the "iBeLink" miner.

DualMiner DID make some mining gear back in the day, USB boards using the Gridseed GC3355 chip, they do NOT make this X11 miner.
