I have reinstalled and rebooted several times to no avail.  blkindex.dat seems not to be on computer under users/appdata or whatever.  Running Windows7 64 bit on new computer, hardly any programs.  Windows Security essential.

It is not there to delete and not sure where to put it if I create it or if it is creatable text file.

Help please

Error is:  error loading blkindex.dat

Anybody else in this perdicament?

It's in
C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin

Before you try anything else, back up your wallet.dat.
Then find blkindex.dat and blk0001.dat in that directory and delete them

Thanks, but that is the screwy part.

There is no appdata under the users name, in this case CHP.

I thought every xp and windows 7 had that folder, but not on this new Windows 7, 64 bit with virually no other software other than OpenOffice, plus I did a complete search several time for the file, directory, etc.

Wierd why it will not recreate it after an uninstall and reboot and then install.

For some reason there is no roaming directory either.

And even more strange maybe, the directories that are there under c:\users\chp\   are like documents, pictures, or the usual suspects rather than the cryptic appdat or roaming etc.....

You guys are so fast, you figured it out before I could even do a followup question.

Thank you Microsoft for not trusting us to look at our own files without the secret cryptic code.  I live on my computer and did not know the Open Sesame code of %appdata%.

Yes after using the secret Open Sesame code, there it was.
