I wonder,if we can find somewhere the date of launching this enormous mine.
Because i would like to check,if the transactions will really speed up,i really hope so because faster confirmations would be great!

If he is rich, and if he can afford himself some expensive fun, why not? Maybe he can make something good with this, and I doubt he is alone in this. Probably he have several assistants, or advisors, lawyers.. so he probably have some strategy or business plan for this to work.
If I'm rich I would probably invest in bitcoins, I will follow his progress. We need to give him time, and we will see his results in year or two. Anyway this is good news, rich people finally started to invest in bitcoins.

As much as I love this guy, he is always doing a but too much. Presidential bids, blockchain security and now this? I'm hoping this works, only because Mr. McAfee is in a place like Chuck Norris to me. But he could actually pull this off, and this isn't the first time he has expressed interest in BTC.

He belongs to older generation. Although he keeps make news, but most are not that impressive, including presidential bid, iphone hack. But if he want to mine Bitcoin, I will say why not, the more hashing power, the better Bitcoin will be.

An Asicminer Blade is 10GH, so 1 PH is 100,000 of these. That is a lot of hash power to mine bitcoin.

No one mined with Asicminer Blades since forever, because obsolete.
Asicminer folded & ran away with people's coin a couple of years ago.
The current hashrate is 1,529,415,029 GH/s or about 1,529 PH/s.
10 PH is less than 1%.

So if McAfee is planing on a mine that has a < 1% hashrate of all bitcoin mines, would that be a big one?
What hashrates do the biggest existing ones have at the moment? Anybody knows that?

A lot of people are going on and on about the Chinese having dominance over Bitcoin mining and now someone from the USA are getting into it, people have doubts about it. I reckon the Roger Ver connection might have something to do with this. I welcome any kind of investment into Bitcoin mining, no matter what side gets involved. The bigger the network, the more secure and robust. ^smile^

He should have gotten into it sooner, not right after the halving.
It still might do some good in convincing other people to start up large scale mining, but only if he's successful..

A 10 petahash mining farm would not mine a block as often as others, but it would still make a big difference, almost 1% of the total hash power if I'm not wrong. Let's see if he will make a ROI...

looking for a signature campaign, dm me for that

For him that sort of purchase is probably a drop in the bucket. I don't think anyone will think negatively if he does it, it will just bring more attention to BTC.

all attention is good attention , the more people that hear about bitcoin the better Smiley so i agree with you Smiley

The total is 1530P at the moment. But the time he built the mining farm, the total could be 3000PH/s.

I also hope that if/when this becomes a reality that he opens it up to the press and allows pictures and such to be taken. I love seeing these massive mines.

Anyone know if you can tour one of the mines in Washington state?  Grin
