how about the mobile apps? Its better than writing a sms, IMO.
I never tried their "buy bitcoin" option, but I know that Xapo has that option on their mobile app. And I heard that blockchain mobile app also has certain feature to buy btc

I think that M-Pesa along with Bitpesa already lets you send Bitcoin by SMS but I'm not really sure. you better take a look at this:

I checked out btc-sm, and noticed that the fees for a very minuscule amount is about 3$, which is pretty expensive. "The price contain current BTC exchange rate and mobile operator fee. This fee is high, so the price for 0.00005 BTC will be about $3"

Also same is the case for bit4coin where the payment is to be made via International Bank Transfer which would again involve a lot of fees, atleast from where I live.

But it's still exciting to see such services exist in the need for emergency purchases.

How exactly does one buy Bitcoins by SMS?? Or does OP means something else because up until now I was under the impression to buy/sell bitcoins you either go to an exchange or find a trader elsewhere. How do you exactly pay for Bitcoins with sms?

I think the seller of the BTC deducts credit from your prepaid mobile... Or something similar like that. I'm not sure.

http://sms.btc-sm.com/ is Scam
http://www.bitcoin-services.co.uk/sms-to-bitcoin.php Out of order...
http://btcforsms.com/ only in Poland..

i did found also
http://www.btcpayments.mobi/ send a SMS and still waiting for an reply...maybe not working
http://www.btc4sms.com/ not operating anymore.

Most of the Services like "Buy Bitcoin by SMS" are not working. Why?

Lot of scam services or sites that are no longer active that still take your money but pay nothing. Guess the latter is a scam as well since it does not take much energy to close a website. Be careful using this service model as it does have a high amount of scam sites connected to SMS for bitcoin.

I think buying Bitcoins through SMS depends on your country's SMS services. In a country I know of, SMS services are really
common so people can easily buy bitcoins through SMS. However, the fees are really high.

Yes you are right. There are services that OP has asked for but they limit their seevices only to some countries. Moreover most of.the services are still in development phase.I think fees these services are charging contains exchange fee as well .

Their is a main drawback that:- These services does not requires verification or any id proof.
