Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable. I never believe them. If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins. I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion. Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice. Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

I went to one of my silver dealers today. His name is Larry. His shop was closed but he was there. He unlocked the door and said, "I can't do it today." I knew why but only gave him a little grief about it.
I said, "Did you see Bitcoin today?"*
He looked pained and said, "No."
I said, "I can buy an ounce of silver with one bitcoin now."
He looked really pained and said, "Come back Thursday."
It's a good thing we're friends.
*Backstory: I told Larry about Bitcoin last year when it was at around 8 or 9 bucks. He ridiculed it and then two weeks later, he started asking me about it because one of his more monied customers had mentioned it to him. He never got interested enough to buy.

Wouldn't parity with the price per ounce of pot be more relevant?
|
All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

Parity with a troy pound of pure gold to come next. It just requires a modicum of patience. This might be a mini-bubble. Nothing like 2011 but a bubble nonetheless.

Yeah, I know I could look it up, but what is one of those going for these days?
