There is one additional rationale behind the recent price rise (in addition to halving), and that is the Lightning Network.
If I understand it correctly, LN is a form of proof-of-stake, where you will be able to EARN income by providing payment channels using YOUR bitcoin.
Therefore, if you stash some bitcoins now, then you will be able to earn income on them by the fall or even summer by acting as a LN payment channel provider. This beats the zero interest rate, right? Hmmm
