The vast number needed to equal some whales would be a big issue and it would be very hard to implement without some kind of automated system. Just time zone alone would create a issue for us to set these walls up.
The more people you need the more the potential for hiccups and going against a much smaller unit,brings way to many issues where we could get hosed.

I am sure that we can not manipulate the price of Bitcoin. Or you need to own a very large amount of Bitcoins to set the price for it

Of course we can't manipulate bitcoin's price but we can do something to change it by its demand but still that it not going to be a big change.

But the only few big traders or hoarders of bitcoin are the ones who has the most power to control and manipulate the price of bitcoin.

And I like how they are manipulating bitcoin's price now, because it is pumping.

I guess simply having connections can make a difference. You don't have to own a large amount of bitcoins to make the market move, you just have to find another person that is interested in investing at something new. Connection is really important in rich people because that's what makes their business more known to people. In a way, it can also be used to pump the price of bitcoin. I guess this is only applicable to people who knows someone rich in real life or maybe someone who is very influential in real life.

Well whales will always be able to join their power and make price jump, but if the market isnt ready those pump wont last, thats the reality, a milionaire can pump bitcoin, but the risk to those are high, community support will always be in the other side, if they dont accept the new price someone will dump their coins.

I think for the moment where the bitcoin users still quite a bit of billionaire could have manipulated the price of pump prices as they only need to panic buying by raising the price a little, and then the pump will occur. yeah of course the risk is great because it is very likely to fail

You don't need a billionaire to manipulate te Bitcoin price, all you need is maybe a few hundred thousand or million and with good enough bots you'll be able to make a fair amount of change occur, and likely a fair amount of money as well.

Individually, without extreme coordination, it is impossible to manipulate the price. Assuming you're an average person.

I think it would have more capital would be better right? have capital that is too small will certainly harm you if there is a sudden need for funds actually your capital have been exhausted? so I think it needs huge funds to prepare everything needed for manipulation price. so you get multiple benefits

That's good only if you are whales and you are holding a big portion of your bitcoin. It is not hard to do that as money is power but as of the current standing of the market, the price is increasing and it will make the manipulation power of the whales to be lessen.

Exactly this happened yesterday with major new project - Iconomi. I was browsing coin markets cap and noticed that Iconomi debuted strong as 10th biggest coin.
Today I checked the market and this coin is already 21th - it was almost 20% price drop in one day.

I just glad that bitcoin market capitalization is so high than small pumping groups can't do much anymore.

I think there is a group of people who can manipulate it that we can call are whales .. they are always planning to attract people to invest bitcoin if they want to do that they are waiting for the right time to invest in bitcoin after that they do marketing strategy making some threads here and other forum that the price is increasing and better to invest just like that after the price is increase high enough those whales will sell their hold bitcoins..
That can affect the value..

I would say that it's the miners. Like in the oil market the opec do.
By deciding how many of your mined coins you put into the market I think it is the most efficient way to give the bitcoin price its direction.

Zec and Augur both projects were hyip since the begining, people does play with both values, and we all know both of them will go under 1 bitcoin, it were already traded before some whales make it reach 3 bitcoins, thats new markets, and its the same as what happened into bitcoin in the begining, the bubble of 1000 dollars that people made bitcoin reach and fall out in seconds, bitcoin does have now a great community and big support, and make bitcoin go up nowadays are just milions to make it, and the market may not support, soo a waste, otherwise rich people that are into bitcoin would make those.

Not just because most of the miners lives in China it doesn't mean they are the ones who are controlling it. We are the ones who are getting some help with bitcoins and the people who are holding or hoarding a lot of bitcoins in their wallet. They are the ones who are mostly controlling and manipulating the price of bitcoin.

Miners control the issuance of new bitcoins. Strictly speaking, the issuance of new bitcoins is predetermined by the Bitcoin protocol, every 10 minutes or so. What matters here is that those who get new bitcoins, get them out of market, but can still sell them on the market, i.e. influence the supply side without touching the demand side first (i.e. not buying these coins). In this way, by selling or refraining from selling, the miners can potentially affect the price. The degree of the impact they might deliver depends on the relative amount of their coins in the aggregate supply...

Now the fact that the total majority of miners reside in China makes them vulnerable to the policies of the Chinese authorities

I don't think so. There are almost 16 Million Bitcoins which already exist and what is mined say per day is a very small amount compared to 16 Million. Also I have never heard that miners had a meeting to decide what the price of Bitcoin should be.

I think the price of Bitcoin fluctuates spontaneously and although we can explain it more or less retrospectively, we can never predict with certainty the future fluctuations.
