All visitors and tourists to Kuwait will now have to submit to a DNA test and be DNA tagged before they’re allowed to enter the Persian Gulf state.

In a world first, Kuwait wants to DNA “tag” everybody in, as well as entering the country with the new DNA legislation that will become law this year.

The Kuwait government says the forced DNA testing won’t affect people’s personal freedom and privacy but will be done to keep track of people and to help if they commit crimes.

Tourists and visitors to Kuwait will get their DNA taken through specimens of saliva or a few drops of blood done at a special DNA testing facility at the airport.

The DNA collection will be done at a special testing centre at Kuwait International Airport and there will be “consequences of rejecting its procedures” for visitors who refuse the mandatory test.

Citizens will be DNA tested by using mobile testing centres that will move through the state and residents will have their DNA captured when they apply for the issuing or renewing of residency visas during medical examinations.

According to The Kuwait Times, the DNA testing law is “aimed at creating an integrated security database”. The law – the first of its kind in the world – and the DNA tagging will only be used for “criminal security purposes” according to Kuwait officials.

“Kuwait will have a database including DBA fingerprints of allcitizens, residents and visitors. This law is the first of its kind in the world and Kuwait is the first country worldwide to apply the system,” notes the publication.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Guess I'll be crossing them off the list. And I so desperately wanted to look at a flat expanse of desert. Their country, their rules. I think I'd fill the swab with mammoth DNA just to fuck with their heads though.

My idea of tourist fun seems to differ from most people. I'd be primarily interested in going there to stare at the poor old stateless Bedoon.

Would this be what the world would be like if one of these Muslim sects was a world power.
Thought they where looking for ways to get off oil!
This looks like a reinforcement of a image then actually helping them out. Conflicting messages from this part of the world.

Kuwait has killed its tourist industry.

TIL it had a tourist industry. Seriously, why would anyone want to visit that part of the world? It's unstable and you never know what might happen next, apart from having horrible weather. The planet is so large, there are so many nicer places to choose to visit...

I had to sacrifice several months of my life to participate in getting the Crown back at the seat of power in this shitty little Monarchy.  Called back in as an Empirial Stormtrooper as an 'independant ready reserve'.  When we (the guys who were supposed to be dealing with Saddam's land-mines...most US made...) had some questions about 'freedom' and such, they (GHW Bush and his minions) said that once we get this mission accomplished we would work on converting it to a Democracy.  One of the first shipments back in to the newly 'liberated' Kuwait was a replacement for the king's golden toilet seat!  A quarter of a century later we are still waiting for 'democracy' to take root.  Of course even as a relative kid I could see that TPTB were full of shit on the whole 'democracy' thing, but using this property to expermiment with implementing a DNA database is especially irksome to someone who participated in holding it for our masters.

Tourists DNA test is a good initiative, it should not just Kuwait throughout the world. The sequence can be reduced to terrorist attacks and other crimes.

You first.
And make sure to link your DNA # to your bitcoin wallet #, for your own protection. What's your real name? Where do you live? Don't forget to add those details to the same file at the Kuwaiti data center...

Yeah right, Mr. Tiny Keyboard Warrior...

It is a wise move for the people they are clean of germs, and it's a step forward that should be followed by other countries, especially the African continent.

Well the only downside is having more funds to fund this idea, so i see no harm to this because it can also help a tourist. Well if are doing that against terrorism then i think other countries should do it too. its gonna be more helpful as long as it wont pressure the said tourists.

Are you clean of germs?

By cell count humans seem to be more bacteria than human.  By DNA sequence even more so I understand since much of our DNA is kind of garbage.  By body mass it seems to be false that we are 'mostly bacteria.'  I personally think that it is cheating to count the bacteria that live in our lower intestinal tract and will be cast out of their own version of heaven with the next shit we take.  Not sure what that does to the math.  It is completely true that we are utterly dependant on a lot of different bacteria in various parts of our bodies in order to achieve something passing for normal health, and probably for life itself.

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/strange-but-true-humans-carry-more-bacterial-cells-than-human-ones/

Whatever the case, the ecology of life is completely fascenating (to science geeks like me, that is.)  I feel strongly that this aspect of reality is downplayed or ignored completely by medical and pharamcuitical researchers, and is probably totally beyond the comprehension of most of the government paid regulators who are widely...and in a lot of cases, mortally...though to be working to keep us safe and healthy.

By "tourists", they probably meant all those third world laborers from countries such as Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Egypt. The Kuwaitis frequently complain that these people are committing too much crime. DNA testing might be an attempt to quickly catch the perpetrators of various crimes such as murder and rape.
