Just thought I would throw this out there. If you are a slave then typically your housing, room and board and food is paid for. All of the work you do though, goes towards the benefit of someone else.

If you are taxed 100% then technically you couldn't even pay your room and board. So that makes it worse than slavery.

Following this logic... at what point is it when we become slaves? 95% taxation? 90%?

Bush had a saying and it went something like this........... You are either with us or against us.

I think obama is going to go down as having a saying that is tied to him as well and it will go like this

"paying your fair share"

Both of those sayings are sinister to me in what they imply.

Tax evasion is not something I am morally against in the least. But I wouldn't simply because the risks outweigh the benefits.
I feel like the populace as a whole is so stupid that even a thousand thousand years of evolution will not be enough to return to a society where we are not taxed so greatly.
I feel like tax evasion is almost becoming the only form of rebellion.......... but it doesn't really do anything in the end.

Tax does help people. I was able to not die from hunger while I was unemployed  Grin

TradeFortress has left me negative trust and has provided no proof to substantiate his claim. He has done this to discredit me as I am investigating him.

True that, if I'm going to be a slave, I'd rather be aware of it. Most people don't seem to ever consider the predicament we're in. I don't think it's just taxes, but this whole system which makes slaves out of us. Work or die is the theme, and whether I'm free to choose to die doesn't make me any less of a slave. As a slave, with a fair master, you're set for life. With the introduction of a wage, for most, it's work without guarantee you'll be set. Hell, the original slave owners of Muricuh decided keeping slaves was just too expensive, and paying workers was more cost effective.

Realistically only small fractions of our taxes go to things like unemployment.

Additionally, higher taxes means paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyles become more
common, which in turn means people have less to donate to charity or give to the
poor. It also means they have less money to spend on 'extra' things that could
get the unemployed employed.

Besides, inefficiency, corruption, over-bureaucratic perspectives, and a general
unwillingness to change with the times are rampant in our government. I would
rather take my chance on people than give in to government control which I know
will fail.

Well I can say that it is more then 70% which we have in my country Smiley Actually I think it will depend on you salary. If you was paid 5 dollar a day, no way you would pay 50% tax, NO WAY. But if you recieve 200 000$ year and end up with 100 000$ that is still ok, and you will accept it.

Taxes are usually used to pay for social services, so if you were taxed 100% (a ludicrous notion since over time, you're tax income would reduce to zero, but let's roll with it), we assume that the government would pay for government housing, health care, food, etc. Plus, under slavery, you have no legal benefits because you are property.

Of course, that would never happen. 100% tax is not beneficial for you or the government:

Slavery is 100% tax, but with free food, shelter, dispute resolution, and guaranteed employment.

Now, which government would give you that? 0% unemployment! Cool, huh?

You wouldn't have needed money to buy food if you had saved some when you were employed.  You don't need taxes for that.

slavery is better than 100% tax

And dying by having a piano falling on you is better than being swallowed up by the Earth.

My statement is as relevant as yours.

Human farmers, the only reason there aren't slaves anymore is because the current system is more efficient.

What if you avoid all taxes? Make your money per job; cash.

Slavery isn't better than anything. Your only taxed for shit you buy or own which goes back to the risks outweighing the benefits. Who ever is under the assumption that 100% tax exist is beyond any sensible person in the real world.
