Maybe this was the goal, as in my posting here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1462981.0

Quote
Some ideas on how it could work:

- Read through the connection data (phone, email etc) from key figures of the Bitcoin community to gain insider knowledge
- Infiltrate core development and replace Bitcoin key figures with NSA staff
- Discredit respected members of the community
- Kill people, if they don't corporate.

Are core devs discussing this possiblility of a large scale infiltration and how to avoid?

Bitcoin is not a bubble, it's the pin!

Interesting Craig Wright interview I'm watching right now:
https://vimeo.com/149035662

That's very interesting interview. Thanks for the link.

Actually I think it's him, I mean he is Satoshi Nakamoto. Just look at him during this:

"So, did you buy any?"

"I've bought and sold many Bitcoins, yes."

"What was the price when you came in?"

"When I first came in? There wasn't a price."

------- -

Just look at the guy's face. )

If he was as smart as he makes out, he would have chosen his words better,
like, a lot less than it is now, would have done just fine,

Also his body language when you get brief shot, he has the classic lier tell tales.

He is just a talker that rants off words, to get investment.

The guy even talks about a centralized bitcoin bank, seems he talks a few times about things that would appeal to governments and big banks, like his is looking for investment.

i can see why he done the angry face when he said he was SN, obviously he was coached, as he cannot help but constantly smirk in that video when giving answers

My very first and last comment about this entire scenario.Lately,I have been seeing a number of threads regarding the drama which is waste of time I suppose.Just my two satoshi's.

1.Halving is on the margins and everyone is excited about the prices, everyone has their own predictions.

2. Criag Wright takes the opportunity to manipulate the scenario by putting his dummy act we call "who is satoshi". Meanwhile Gavin is not sure weather he should be licking arses or just go with the flow.He doesn't want to be called as a bad guy,after-all we know that dude is smart.

3.Criag knows that we knew that he knew he is not Satoshi. But hey little bit of drama never hurt anybody.Of course, halving is on the margins duhhhhh!

4.BBC takes a stand showing interests in broadcasting the matter.TRI ya know. However the event turns out a fully failed occurrence Bitcoin prices are not affected for jack.Idiots use the event to promote the shitcoins.

5.Drama comes to an end with the conclusion Craig is not satoshi .Gavin is still smart.Bitcoins are still cool.

1. agree
2. I don't agree to last part: "that dude is smart."
3. ok
4. +1
5. downvote to "Gavin is still smart". Rest is cool

Chris nails it.

Chris wants to know what experience BitcoinBelle had? Or what her role in this game is/was?
Well it looks like that Craig Wright had "some kind of relation" with her because she thought he is Satoshi. Cheesy

What was in it for him? All of these shenanigans have just made him out to look like a silly sausage. I assume he had some type of intention. I'd love to know what it is.

For one thing he wanted to create a forum that would take over from this one. His blog had a link to his forum with a blank place holder page ready for it. At the bottom of his blog's about page he talked about creating a world-class forum.

Quote
VISION

Our vision is to create a forum about bitcoin, which dispels myths and helps to unleash its potential.

MISSION

Bitcoin and the blockchain can change the world for the better. Unfortunately, there are a number of inaccuracies and misconceptions out there.

That is why we created this blog. We want it to become a pre-eminent source of information for all things bitcoin, educating people about the science and economics behind it.

Our aim is to not only dispel myths. With your intellectual contributions, we want to create a forum to enlighten developers and producers with the facts, and by doing so, encourage the widespread use of the cryptocurrency.

We will strive for an ongoing quest for excellence in all our operations, from assembling a diverse workforce of high-calibre individuals, to deepening their understanding of this disruptive technology.

By creating a world-class forum, we believe we can remove the fear surrounding bitcoin and the blockchain, and help unlock the remarkable potential of both.

So from my understanding, the wanna be Satoshi Nakamoto cannot provide more solid proofs to prove he is Satoshi Nakamoto right? Well, I really wonder what Gavin will do. With his personality/attitude, something 'funny' is going to be on the news soon.

Quote from: CoinDesk.com
He signed, in my presence, using the private key from block #1, the very first block mined on a computer I was convinced had not been tampered with with a message of my choosing. My interactions with him feel like this is in the inventor of bitcoin. I remind everybody that he is human and that he makes mistakes like we do.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

Gavin covered himself by saying “it’s certainly possible I was bamboozled”. He will probably appear on the news, point out that statement, and say the news reported his Satoshi Nakamoto 'proof' out of context.

He trusted Craig Wright's 'assistant' to provide a factory sealed new computer, and trusted hotel Wi-fi to download a Bitcoin wallet. If he get's mauled by the press it's his own fault for trusting Craig Wright's 'assistant', and hotel Wi-fi.

“It’s certainly possible I was bamboozled,” Andresen says. “I could spin stories of how they hacked the hotel Wi-fi so that the insecure connection gave us a bad version of the software. But that just seems incredibly unlikely.

There is a way to provide proof privately. But once the proof is provided, it will become public sooner or later.

The NDA should just be a gentleman's agreement not to publish the proof until the next week or a few days later.

If Jon or Gavin was given a signed message printed on paper, they can take that home, and verify it, on their own computer, on their own time. Alternatively the message could have been emailed to them encrypted.

But now, no one has seen this proof or have access to it. So no one except the two would have witnessed it, and no one else will. That is why, no one will believe all of them because no one will ever see it.

Which is just as well.

Gavin can still contribute code, it just depends on if the rest of the core devs will use his code. If it's a bug fix, they will look at it and see if it's good before including it.

There are ways of including code that is obfuscated or does something else, but at least many people will see it first before it gets a chance to go live.

Damn 'I am sorry I don't read 50 shades of Satoshi' is the funniest thing I have heard for a while  Grin  Grin The drama has been absolutely all over the place  these couple of days and now we can finally relax knowing that Craig Wright has been proven an inept con artist and a plagiarist at that. But for everyone else that believed in his claims and vouched for him I think they will have a really hard time trying to restore their reputations.

Maybe they should sue this guy?  Shocked

I think it's their own fault. Stating that he is satoshi without a verifyable proof, not being allowed about a possibly invented proof... no, it's their own fault. Too bad gavin made it too easy for others to discredit him.

Why would they be so quick to validate him when the potential for backfire was right there for everyone to see?
Are we that hard up to get the creator out so we can move into a new stage of creating a global platforum!

There had to be more to this and some one misfired or got chicken at the last minute. Very odd and I think it damaged bitcoin a little in the public eye.

Maybe craig wright was a friend of gavin so that he trusted him to not scam him?

Anyway, gavin failed big time.

As much as I am convinced CW is not Satoshi I do not know this for a fact. Failing to provide the proof he claimed was coming is a huge red flag, but not really proof he isn't. [/devil's advocate]

CW is as much Satoshi as CW post is a post office
