How is this different from Spaincoin, Mazacoin, Scotcoin, Auroracoin?
With the exception of Auroa, it has the potential to be a national digital currency.. But with a much larger market  Please explain your reasoning. Why do you think that is? |

We're still busy working on the fork. Mammix has been helping out and has been implemented some fixes etc No ETA yet but we're not far off. Yeah..what progress your busy working on the fork..?? |

With the exception of Auroa, it has the potential to be a national digital currency.. But with a much larger market Please explain your reasoning. Why do you think that is? Well the UK is historically know for Fintech innovation with London being joint top financial capital of the world, so we feel the British public would be receptive to the idea of a national coin that gives them 5% annual interest via PoS and much faster confirmation times as opposed to Bitcoin.. Which also struggles to get over the "drug money" image it has in the general British public's perception. Also since the UK is a fairly small (geographically) and centralized country with a large banking sector with decent infrastructure, it would be much easier to make this project work as opposed to doing this in the US or Spain.. Small island with 64m people on it, most who would love to stick it to the banks by using Britcoin.  Aurora is a good coin, but Iceland has a population of 0.3m so it's a fraction of the UK's. We're still busy working on the fork. Mammix has been helping out and has been implemented some fixes etc No ETA yet but we're not far off. Yeah..what progress your busy working on the fork..?? After about 18 months of inactivity (as in no new developments or even active exchanges etc) we were lucky to meet an investor (based in the UK) who was willing to pay for two full time developers and invest into a large marketing campaign. When we met him for our first meeting, Britcoin wasn't traded on any exchanges so we decided to do a somewhat of a private IPO where we would fork Brit and mint 10m new coins, which would be shared among the investors and developers. I know there will be some people who will say that doing this goes against the grain of cryptocurrency 'ethics', but you have to realize if it doesn't happen then the coin dies since no one can afford to work for free on this and there's no point killing this project over some naive moral chivalry.  |

Same here. Seems to be taking a while? It has been two weeks already since the last attempt. Any luck? Sorry it's taking so long but we are making progress :8] It turns out it's possible to make these new coins through staking so that's what we'll try next. It should be a more usual "upgrade your wallets to this new version" thing rather than the quick-and-dirty "shut down your wallets now" thing we tried that didn't work. By the way, I suspect that Windows Brit blockchains are now incompatible with Linux ones as I can't manage to get a blockchain from Windows working on Linux. I suspect that the Windows wallets have been compiled with a newer version of Berekely DB at some point, which is not backwards-compatible. It's not a huge deal, but it does mean that Linux users may need a different blockchain bootstrap file if they want to cut out that 2-3 days of syncing. Mo |

While I was syncing from scratch, it seemed that I got on a small fork. Fortunately, the seed nodes, C-cex, and CryptoBE are on the right chain :8] Britmates, please open your wallets and then the Debug console (Help -> Debug Console), and type Look at the hash you are given, then compare it to the hash near the top of this page: http://cryptobe.com/block/724debd6fe71bd49b21fb4b29b6b2bed646b0765e38bcac59abb7fadf1b5262eIf they match, you're on the right chain too :8] If not, let us know. Here's a blockchain sync file if you want to get up to date quickly on Linux. You're supposed to delete everything in your hidden ~/.britcoin folder except the wallet.dat if you have one, then plonk it in there. It's up to block 974,000 so there's still a little syncing to do afterwards, but that's by design. EDIT: And here's another one for Windows up to around block 993400.

I started staking my wallet (in the 6 figures of BRIT), it got 3 stakes in the same minute, one over 50 minutes later and then stopped saying not staking because I had no mature coins. So I have to wait for 90+ confirmations now. It doesn't feel like it's working quite right as the stake rewards were tiny (about 2 BRIT generated in total in 4 blocks). So I'll keep it running but this may indicate why the network is slow? |
