My wife just downloaded Minergate and first I thought it was another ponzi cloud mining software. But when I read this I think more about real mining or am I wrong about it. Is this legit and is it smart investing in this time and maybe money.

It is simply another miner that automatically selects the most profitable coins to mine to convert to btc at the end of the day or the coin u want. Similar to the other smart miner Nice hash. You are using your own hardware, it is not cloud mining.

miner  15:14:32.340|main  Getting work package...
JSON-RPC problem. Probably couldn't connect. Retrying in 1...

Anybody experiencing the same problem?

I never got a good feeling about Minergate. The description of their service is vague and their
response to my specific questions were evasive. I'm not going to sign up to any service that
isn't up front about what they provide. I still don't know what services they provide. Strike 1.

They also promote their own mining software without any info about it and no source code available.
Strike 2.

They control both the miner and the pool so there is no way to independantly verify the accuracy of the
stats. Strike 3, you're out!

In a nutshell, we provide is a multi-currency pool and a GUI miner. Our aim is to make cryptocurrency mining easy for anyone, who has an ordinary PC.

Our source code is not available, because we provide proprietary software. And our 100,000+ users are absolutely fine with that

There's one simple way to do that: just run our miner and pool, and figure out the stats.

Tried minergate for the first time, why am I getting only 2-5 MH/s per Nano? I am getting 25+ MH/s with Claymore's.

I tried it on one of my machines last week.

 It was a ROYAL PITA to get working at all on Ethereum - the interface is VERY non-intuitive tryng to get it to work with GPUs.

 It didn't handle multi-GPU very well at all, 2 of my 3 ran at about 80% of what I see out of qtminer, the 3'd ran at less than 20% - and NOTHING I could find to change made any difference.


 I can't say how this works on anything else, but as an Ethereum miner it is NOT READY FOR RELEASE and should be considered ALPHA-level software - it's not good enough IMO to count as Beta test software.
