There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

IIRC this would be the third betting site to run away with users' money.

Signature space available for rent.

Ouch!  I hope it is not that.  Do they post here ever?  It was a nice site and good concept and as someone fairly new to bitcoin I really enjoyed it.

I hope not, it was a good site.  I didn't have much money there, but I had a few bets going.

Just to save everyone a trip to twitter:

Bets of Bitcoin ‏@betsofbitcoin

Server is down for maintenance. We'll be back in a couple of hours.

That was six hours ago.  I hope they make it back okay.
