Say the Bitcoin community would ask you for a new name;  a new name must be chosen for Bitcoin.

What would be your proposal?
How can you think about this?i never think before. but honestly i still wonder how satoshi nakamoto can give this crypto with "Bitcoin" name. and if i should give a nae to this crypto currency,maybe "Bestcoin" will  be better for me,or maybe "Godcoin".

well... seeing as there is no actual physical "coin" .. here is what id suggest as alternative names that would be more mainstream (like 'cloud' is used instead of 'remote hosting')

eDesa = electronic decentralized pesa (like the epesa, the african community common currency.. but decentralised)

oledge = open ledger

ellipts = elliptic curve based currency

ursat = your satoshi's

other things that need to be changed is the "wallet file" should be called something like a "key ring" seeing as it is more like a place to store keys instead of actual funds..

so lets see if anyone else can be more creative and try thinking of names that dont use the words wallet or coin.. because those terms are actually more confusing when you look at the reality of how bitcoin works

Bitcoin is quite short in name and easy to remember however i dont know what that bit actually means. So i think cryptocoin could have been better name as blockchain depends on cryptographic encryption.

You know bitcoin seems pretty perfect, but an alternative such as ccoin as in crypto-coin would be also good.

Yeah, but, the public really likes the word "coin". It conjures up old fashioned gold coins that hold their worth. If you want to give people the impression that this is something that holds it's value, "coin" has to be in the name. "Ledgers" and "electronic" don't conjure up the idea of stores of value.

I really have no idea what to rename Bitcoin. Once you hear Bitcoin, there is no other words that come into mind that would make good names. I would just keep it as Bitcoin.
Agree with that,i never have suggestion for better name for bitcoin,its was perfect name for perfect crypto currency. and wondering how satshi can give this name perfectly,i'm sure he not think about this name by own self,satoshi team should give any suggestion until found name "Bitcoin".

Bitcoin is just perfect name and it describe well Bitcoin.I don't think there is even need to think to rename.I am quite happy and totally satisfied with its current name.If I was in position to think better name then I was creating it.Satoshi gave his invention perfect name.

To be honest, I can't really find a 'better' name for it.
Bitcoin sounds good and cool for me.
When I got my first payout of satoshi from faucets, my first thought ''oh is really a 'bit' coin''.
When I bought my first bitcoin, I feel is such a BIGcoin.

A scam will be a scam.
It won't sustain in long run, cause they can't make $ for you at all, they don't have any business model or investment plans to make money grows.
All they did is use other people's $ to pay other users, so those who earned $ is just from other victims... in short a vicious cycle.
People KNEW, but they just dump their $ in hoping for a miracle.

Maybe I have to give another example for people who can't understand.
It's like- Going down to dirty sewers looking for fresh air.

I think bitcoin are perfectly suited for the name. but if I had the opportunity to donate a name, then I would choose the name kingcoin. it is particularly suited to the position of the current coin

I also think Bitcoin is perfect name and don't need to get change or re-brand with new name, it is more popular name around the globe so that i wouldn't  like to change this name, what is the reason to change this revolutionary name because it is unique name.

what public?
show me some statistics of opinion polls from the general public.

coins do not have an inherent mindset of holding value. most people think of coins as that crappy metal stuff left at the bottom of your pocket that a shop gives you back to pretend he hasnt ripped you off by a whole bank note amount.

coins remind people that even if you have a coin you cannot buy very much or anything with a coin. unless you have alot of them. and even then you sometimes need to put them into a machine to have it converted into credit because most stores dont trust their staff to count coins.

Hope I don't offend too many people, but so far this thread has me thankful that Satoshi gave it the name he did. I'm content with plain old bitcoin.

If I would have to choose better name for Bitcoin I would give up and say no, I do not want to select "better" name. Bitcoin is Bitcoin and it will remain.
