I'm currently running different linux os'es mostly on my boxes, I was wanting do dabble into trying something new entirely on a small server I'm installing. Looking at BSD and possibly want to try one of those, but is there something else that I could have a look at that maybe I don't know about ?
It should be reasonably secure and free software.

Elementary is just good looking Ubuntu. (With release date similar to BFL SC ) I'd not call it obscure. However Plan 9, the so-called successor of Unix can be interesting. |

I couldn't remember the name of it, just googled BeOS and posted the wiki link. Thanks for posting that. Don't know if any of the kids remember BeOS from the day, but it sure had a lot of potential until Palm got their hands on it. I actually find haiku pretty decent. I haven't tested latest alpha but apparently it now supports WPA2, which was the only thing I was missing. If you have an old 32-bit laptop lying around, this will make it fly. |

Its a semi cloud OS based on Linux
Most Linux distros are getting too bloated, but Joli has got the balance right between light and useful!
