Education. I don't mean bullshit university degree (I speak as a PhD), but practical knowledge and skills, specialized or not, from a university course or from somewhere else, does not matter. Another one: physical excercise. No need for expensive gym memberships and props, all you need to invest is your time. Time is money. And, speaking of investing time, another great investment: friends and family.

And cheap vodka. Extremely valuable during economic collapse. Multiple uses.
you can only have so much vodka stored, but one trivial machine would provide endless quantities of 60 deg alcohol out of virtually any product. cigarettes, on the other hand, not so simple to make yourself.

Tobacco products almost guaranteedly will go up in price because most governments in the world raise taxes on them.

Some stocks are. There is plenty of value to be found however.

Exactly. Growing the tobacco is the hardest part, and it's not hard. After it's grown, you just dry it and smoke it. You can even wrap tobacco in tobacco. It's called a cigar.

You could use mining rigs to dry the leaves.

Ok, sure, but where I live, tobacco does not grow without electricity. If you live in warmer areas then having tobacco seeds makes more sense.

You make the vodka, I'll grow the tobacco, and we can trade! Deal! I'll stock up on 7.62mm AKM bullets instead then 5.56mm here. Although, I'm a huge fan of 7.62x54R and a few Mosin-Nagants soaked in cosmoline. Current prices where I live. Semi AK - $800+ 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 - Wolf 123gr FMJ - $359 Mosin - $99 1000 rounds of 7.62x54R - Bulgarian spam can (corrosive) - $215 Have a look at an SKS as a happy middle between the Mosin and the AK. In the US, guns have been doing almost as good as bitcoins; with all the talk about banning some or all weapons or whatever the prices have been shooting up recently. I have brewed mead and hard cider, I thought it was an easy process. I didn't make any vodka, but I do distillations at work all the time and I could easily set it up in my kitchen with a few pipes and a couple hours of work. Another thing you could get, not so much as an investment but as preparation for when there are problems in the future, would be a series of how-to books, encyclopedia, etc.; knowledge-base books could be quite useful if the internet is no longer accessible.

ssri's imo. If the supply line of these drugs was ever disrupted you could sell them to desperate people for windfall profits.
