Some say it could be virtually infinite.
The distance of vision is the key..
Imagine if you can see 100 miles max.
Then when you get to 99 miles you then see more universe 100 miles long.
Some say it could on like this for ever..

Other things that are weird is there is unusual gaps of pretty much nothing
and that there is a pull of part of our universe being drawn or sucked in one direction
like someone hooked up a vacuum cleaner and is pulling Galaxies all over to one direction.

They also say there is no Galactic "center"
But this has always bothered me because if there was a big bang i think there should be one !
I think we're just not recognizing it..

I also think "they" got dark matter and dark energy very wrong.. i have my own theories.

Not long ago Mike Brown and a buddy posted proof of a new large planet.. "Planet X"
This was met with intense ridicule and i had to be the smart one of course and remind
all these cocky expert so called "geniuses" that the same technical scientific methodology
used to declare there was a black hole at the center of our Galaxy was then used to find Planet X
So i said to all of them so called "experts" with uber leet degree's..
Did you run your mouth and laugh and mock the scientific chick and her team
who found the Milky Way Galaxy ? and of course NONE of them had a word to say.

There is my opinion and then the wrong one Wink

when i was a little child they said, that it is unlikely that there is another planet like earth or habitable planets at all. they said, that water is very rare and guess what? there is tons of water just on the next planet!

things changed a little bit in the last years.   Wink

humans still think, that it is unlikely that there are other intelligent species apart from us. lets talk again in 100-200 years  Wink

"We have increased funding for planetary programs and made sure we are going to complete the incredibly important mission to Europa that the planetary decadal survey mapped out because of the very high likelihood that life will be discovered in those oceans," Culberson said during a hearing Tuesday. "This will be a transformative moment in the history of humanity and the country."

as far as i understood there is no galatic center because our universe has no boarder - an ever expanding space therefor without any start or endpoints so we cant define a center.

(but i understand your argumentation, because i had the same thinking once in the past too)

Well there has to be an edge ..a fuzzy hard to see one we may never detect though.
Otherwise the big bang theory can't work !

Think of the big bang as a grenade that explodes..
There will be shrapnel spanning out in all directions
and not necessarily equally distributed etc.
But there will always be a center where it started from.

Way i see it *so far* is if there is a big bang theory then there has to be a center point.
But all scientists have ever said endlessly is there is NOT one.
Which is bad science unless i am missing a fundamental part of the picture here.

Not knowing where the center is ..does not mean there isn't one.
Saying that is far beyond bad science, it's just dumb.
Assumptions are bad science.

If Aliens ever came here i think they made a space ship that travels outside the realm of the universe.
It would be the only way we can think of to traverse the great distances in short time periods.
A Mexican scientist proposed a bubble we could put a ship inside that would be similar.
Scientists unanimously agree it's a respectable idea.. we just have no idea how technically to do it.
Science have long said for decades the guys idea does NOT violate the laws.. so it's plausible.
In other words a means of neutralizing the universe so you are essentially outside of it.

I always imagined an electronic system of counter energies..
For every positive particle that pushes on the space ship you generate another to neutralize it.
We can do this with sound etc already.. but i bet it would require massive amounts of energy and tech galore.
See why i brought that up ?
Being OUTSIDE the universe ?
If your outside of it then an outside DOES exist.. then there must be an "edge"
No matter how erratic hard to detect or fuzzy.
Take our countries borders for example they are all jagged lines pretty much.

I like how science works at it's fundamental base concept simplicity.
Ask.. check.. check again.
And always be ready to check again ..forever !
Google search Al Hazen Wink

When others are worried about making sure they convince others of being right..
i am working hard at looking in the mirror looking for ways i am WRONG !
In other words i don't look for proof i am right.. i look for proof i am wrong.
