Ethereum is going to the moon. I'm a PhD educated professor and I've done the math. Ethereum, smart contracts m, and the DAO are going to change the world... for better. I know a s appreciate that many of you fear change, especially against your BTC hodlings however we all need to take a step back and appreciate the present situation. BTC is stalled floundering, and centralised in China. Ethereum is growing dat by dat with new devs, it doesn't suffer 2 hour confirmations. And it's fucking scalable. Ok let's rethink this: BTC unsalable unscalable stalled. ETH salable scalable growing.

Curious as to what that PhD is in--I assume it's not math. But aside from that, you're probably right though you shouldn't be. Sucks walking around in a fog but if it wasn't that way, there'd be no markets.

I am far from convinced that Ethereum has addressed the issue of scalability. What we have at this point is a fixed transaction cost (fixed gas cost for a given computation) in terms of Ether, and a scalable blocksize. I can easily see a situation where Ethereum will simply price itself out of the market if the price of Ethereum does not fall as fast the cost of distributed computing. Of course some will say that a solution is in the works, much as the idea of scalability in Bitcoin was left "to the future" say in 2011. Developing a market that can scale with a radical fall in computing cost, without centralized intervention, is the real challenge here. Edit 1: Please prove me wrong: A long position on Ethereum looks to me a lot like a short position on Moore's Law (betting that the price of computing will increase in real terms over time). Edit 2: If the cost of computing power is fixed in terms of Ethereum, is not purchasing Ethereum in effect purchasing computing power. I know past performance in not an indicator of future results, but really computing power as a long term investment?

I do agree it's a good time to buy ethereum, but stop that nonsense idea of "ethereum will surpass bitcoin!". Yep, they are coins but they are completely different ideas. Eth will never be held as money or gold but bitcoin might be.

Nice 24h volume of $ 25,167,000.
Not buying now though. We all know Ethereum will fall much much much much much much much lower on May 28th.
Telling people to buy now is pretty stupid

I take this prediction is based upon the DAO.

Ethereum is going for $2 billion market cap, then $3 billion and so on. It will happen very quickly, bitcoin will be overcome by events. Don't fuck your lives up.

A good one pump thread with a PhD. AFAIK I thought the price of ethereum will decrease when dao contracts finishes up? so why should we buy now? If we're going to buy ethereum it will not be this current time. Have you forgot it adding in your calculations?

why would eth price drop after they raised nearly $200,000,000 to invest in ethereum blockchain? Its hugely bullish for eth you pea brained mongoloid

need some of your shit, bro! Only the finest shit is consumed on this forum man, it's better than what I have, obviously. He's a Dr. Maybe it's medicinal..? Ethereum is indeed going to the moon. Short term. Then it will come back down to earth for a spell. I will concede, long term eth will most likely be moon worthy, but I just can't shake the feeling the DAO thing is gonna go poorly. I hope I am wrong, I don't want to see this fail in the public's eye, nor do I want guys to lose value. We will see.

Its hugely bullish for eth you pea brained mongoloid Names, stoat, names You wound me and you aren't even talking to me We (the naysayers) think that all the greedy profit taking is going to occur around the 28th, because the amount of profit that has been made during this IPO has been insane. Unlike yourself, who actually is enthusiastic about Eth and the future of the DAO (this is noble, do not take this as a slight), most of your investment proteges could give a flying fuck about the underlying technology, or the promise it brings to transparent corporation governership. They see a flashing sign that says "2x profit!" next to a button that says "Sell!". Why do you think, and this is a serious question, investors will hold their shares, and eth, once liquidity emerges? Perhaps you have a perspective I have yet to consider. Thank you for your consideration, and your time, in advance.

No, I think Eth has roughly doubled in value since its most recent low of .015 btc per. I was trading on Polo at that time, missed out myself because I had to move my money elsewhere before it reached the bottom (I pulled orders I had at .016ish, it hurt a bit when my would be order was surpassed). We were waiting for it to hit said bottom, and I know a lot of guys personally that purchased during this uptick back to .02ish, from which it has taken off to present levels.
These guys are traders, not futurist, and are chomping at the bits to unload and reload at a cheaper price. This mentality is what I believe will harm the market, and I believe this is the mentality of the majority of actors in this market at the moment.

I take this prediction is based upon the DAO. Sure it's due to Dao. Yet it could be true. BitCoin will lose it's value later If Eth cxontinues to gain popularity.

When you guys say, "Ethereum will take over Bitcoin as the next viable cryptocurrency" you are hugely mistaken. It's not even a currency to say the least, it just acts like a currency because you can trade it in for bitcoins and also be able to send them, which makes it an asset at the least... An asset that allows you to access the services that Ethereum has the potential to provide.
Ethereum isn't a currency.
What a load of claptrap. ETH works fine as a currency Ethereum will be in number 1 spot next year or even sooner, just watch.
Dont cry roach
Bitcoins days are numbered, ethereum will overtake in 2017 or earlier
I see now , stout , i understand you. We each have our own interest, but you know it is not always be the same. By the way thanks for the compliment . To end this , IMO we will see a massive sell list of eth on the 28th and the following days, if it is not a massive one, i'm sure there will be people to sell out their eth for instant profit. Oh! This will be unlikely to happen if they have one and the same brain, which is not.

I do think that smart contracts are going to change the world. But I am not sure that Ethereum will be the platform to do it.
