Bitfountain decided to postpone the release of the ASICMINER equity to a trading platform.

I am thus offering this FIXED PRICE auction for a total of 2472 shares at a price of 0.5 BTC / share.
I am doing this to provide liquidity and to benefit from my early investor status.

The minimum purchase is 10 shares and you could decide to buy incrementally. I will post daily summaries.
This auction will continue until the shares have sold out. The shares are sold on a first come first serve basis.

After bidding, please sent the corresponding amount of BTC (shares*0.5) within 48 hours to the following address:
1KbAD8KU1u6uw6nHSJEYpdZfgQbNbTAkH2

!!!IMPORTANT!!!
When you bid, specify the BTC address from which the BTC are coming from, so I can associate the forum name with the BTC address. Thus make sure you have access to the private key of the source BTC address. I will also use that BTC address when reporting the trades to friedcat. So safe yourself a headache and make sure you got this covered.
!!!IMPORTANT!!!

If the BTC are not received within 48 hours, the bid becomes invalid and the shares are available again.

I plan to do the clearing,i.e. the reporting to friedcat, after the auction has finished. If the auction takes longer than a week, I will report incrementally, i.e. each week.

If dividends overlap with the reporting/bidding, the date of the bid decides on the final recipient of the dividend, i.e. they will be forwarded correspondingly.

Happy bidding

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

I have asked friedcat to confirm the validity of the offer.

Also, if you are not that familiar with how to send BTC from a specific address, I can make exceptions for the purpose of accounting (still prefer the other method). However, I still need an address which I can report to friedcat, keep that in mind.

I also accept offers per pm, in case a buyer wants to stay anonymous. I will post the corresponding entry in the thread, so everybody is aware of the activity. The time of the PM counts as the bid time.

When you bid, specify the BTC address from which the BTC are coming from, so I can associate the forum name with the BTC address.

I'm using the latest version of the Satoshi client (v0.8.0-beta). Would you (or anyone else) be kind enough to briefly explain to me how to create a sending address so that I can send BTCs from it using my Satoshi client wallet?  If I just sent the BTCs to you regardless with my Satoshi client wallet, I should be able to see after the fact which BTC address my Satoshi client used to send the BTCs, right? Then I can report that address here? If I proceed this way, will that sending address be a different address from all the addresses I may have used previously using the same Satoshi client wallet?

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Unfortunately the satoshi client has limited capabilities for coin control. You could work your way through setting up accounts, but I recommend using the Armory client.

However, as already pointed out above I will also accept payments from other address. But you have to provide an address I can report to friedcat to track ownership and to facilitate dividend payments.

Hope that helps

When do you expect friedcat to confirm?
Whenever he's awake & read his emails & and has time to browse the forum

what is bid vs reserve?
Some have requested a confirmation from friedcat first. Since this may take a day, I've put down the bid as a reserve, to indicate that it becomes a bid once friedcat confirms.

Also since some are confused what a reserve actually means. Let me define it:

A reserve is a bid, for which the 48 hour payment clock starts when friedcat has officially confirmed the validity this auction.

We confirm that Jutarul is indeed associated with the Bitcoin address 1KbAD8KU1u6uw6nHSJEYpdZfgQbNbTAkH2, which serves as his account. We also confirm that the corresponding share number to the address is enough for his auction.

back at the computer, processing the input... 17 Messages and a few auction posts.

Thanks, friedcat, for the quick confirmation! I consider all reserve as bids now and expect payment within 48 hours to finalize the deal.

I saw people requesting escrow. While I am usually a fan of escrow for purposes of finalizing a transaction for which the quality of the product can not be inspected at the time of purchase, it is unnecessary here for the following reason:
1) This auction is now offically confirmed by friedcat, so he is aware of the activity
2) You have PROOF of payment, because the transaction is directed towards the BTC address which is registered with friedcat (given you have the private key of the incoming BTC address). Also it's a fixed price auction, so the incoming BTC is proportional to the number of shares.

Hope that should clear things up.
I will process the requests now, put them into sequence and post another status update.

I am off to bed.

current state:
670 in bids, 131 in reserve

2472-670-131 = 1671 shares still available

adjusted now:
1324 in bids
2472-1324 = 1148 shares

However, I further received a holding request for 1500 shares as a call option. I am treading this as a bid for 1148 for now, until the details have been worked out.

Thus for now the shares have been sold out. I will update this thread with new information, once it's available to me. I will now compile the spreadsheet for clearing the trades with friedcat and monitor the payment address for incoming payments to finalize the bids. After 48 hours I will post information on the current status of this auction. Should shares become available again I will offer them again at a first come first serve basis.

From now on, you're welcome to place bids as a reservation - either through PMs or an auction post. Please DO NOT transfer BTC, because this is just in case the option call fails, becomes irrelevant or other slots open! Again - all bids from now on are not guaranteed to be filled!

I just wanted to give an update to everyone on the holding request I received over the 1500 shares which I wrote down as a bid for 1148 shares. The offer was a call option with a limited lifetime. Since there is a strong demand on the buy side I am not planning to go for a simple call option, however the person still has the chance to acquire the shares through the normal bid process with the 48 hours of the bid (with a little bit of lenience). I expect a decision within the next day.

I received more PMs with bids for shares which may become available again. I will post that activity in this auction thread together with the following summary:
1) Fullfilled bids (transaction received
2) Pending bids (no transaction received)
3) Sequential list of bids for shares which fall through 2)

Will take me some time, but I expect to be finished within the next 2 hours or so.

Below is the summarized update. It contains payment status, #shares the BTC to report to friedcat and the initial date of the bid.
I merged this with an earlier trade, this is why the total number of shares is 2487, instead of 2472.

IMPORTANT!!!
- Please check if your BTC address is given in this list and that the #shares is correct. If you find discrepancies please let me know ASAP.
- if your status shows pending, please inform me ASAP on the status of your payment.
- if your status shows "reopen reserve" your bid now became active. Please send me a BTC address for reporting, if you haven't done so yet and finalize the bid by send the payment to 1KbAD8KU1u6uw6nHSJEYpdZfgQbNbTAkH2
- the report will include the FORUM ID. If you also want an email address to be reported to friedcat (so he can contact you if the forum shuts down) please send me a PM, and I'll include it in the report.
IMPORTANT!!!

This list will get updated frequently until all shares have finalized and the report can be sent to friedcat.

The status of the holding request was changed to a bid of 100 shares. I also received another request over a large volume of shares which here is reflected as 708 shares.

The current status of this trade is (again) sold out. However, if you are interested in shares, should they become available, please send me a PM, I'll keep collecting the bids on a first come first serve basis until all open bids have been finalized.

the bid for 708 shares was adjusted to 300. I also received another request for 86 shares.

If going to take 300 of this 322 and my other 300 to make a total of 600.

This should leave you 22 shares.

Payment coming soon.

now that we are ASICMINER chareholders how we can manage our shares?
i mean is there an official list with addresses and shares by friedcat ?
The shares will be directly registered with friedcat. That's what the BTC address is for: it tracks the ownership and can be used as proof of ownership and to receive payments. There is no official list.

The shares will be directly managed by bitfountain until they have devised a scheme to put the equity on a trading platform, at which time the shares may be more manageable.

In any event, I recommend using ASICMINER as a permanent investment in your portfolio, in which case you do not really need to manage anything. Just keep your BTC address safe and enjoy the dividends and the growth of the company. Should you be forced to liquidate your asset, you can always find another buyer through the various channels, do an escrowed payment and inform friedcat of the change, similar to how it is done here. However, please let me emphasize here that you should not flood friedcat with change requests. Otherwise he may be forced to put regulations in place to prevent high frequency trading. If you're interesting in speculative trading of ASICMINER right now, I recommend looking at some of the pass thru options - but be aware of the increased counter-party risk!

Also I encourage everyone to send me an email address I can report to friedcat, I keep collecting them and will send them to him in a structured format.

Also, since I get asked this question often: Yes - you will get the dividend forwarded if the bid is still being processed and hasn't been updated with friedcat record yet.

The first update has been sent to friedcat. Below is a blanked out version of the report. The full report also included the forum name, optionally an email address and the transaction ID which was associated with the transfer. The report was signed with the key 1KbAD8KU1u6uw6nHSJEYpdZfgQbNbTAkH2

The auction led to a larger fragmentation than I anticipated. Many were interested in sub $1k investments. I tried to make it as easy as possible for friedcat to incorporate the changes. I recommend that shareholders observe the next planned dividend payment (no date given yet) and check it thoroughly.

If you really must validate the transfer with friedcat before the next dividend payment, please wait until he had a chance to go through the changes (e.g. 2 days). Here's a template of a validation request, to make it easier for friedcat to respond to particular queries:
----
Dear friedcat,

I am the owner of BTC address XXX.
Please confirm that XXX shares are associated with my account.

Thank you,
XXX

quick update:

payments for the bids are slowly coming in. It looks like bids for 85 shares in total are not going to be filled. However, I have bids as a reserve exceeding that. I will wait a few hours before I cancel the bids associated with the 85 shares. After that I'll post another summary update and notify all current bidders.

the good news is that the break even dynamics is mostly unaffected by BTC price. It more ore less depends on the technological evolution of the bitcoin network.

yep, something like this. The best case scenario is the half year, but that will hardly be true. Bigger question is if the dividends will stop flowing after the 0.1 BTC is paid off. Then the board members can decide if the money will be re-invested in the company and ASICs for home use will be sold or something like that...

Friedcat has stated earlier that he thinks 30 - 40 % of the Dividends will be withheld for future development etc.... Don't forget that Friedcat and his friends also get paid by dividends...the 200.000 shares Bitfountain holds.... So I expect a steady stream of weekly dividends

hopefully yes, I was counting on it while I was buying the extra shares for pretty high prices nowadays. Tomorrow evening will tell us more about what kind of dividends can we expect. I'm also hoping that friedcat will be able to put more hashpower online soon...

I don't think there is anymore left. You could always buy the shares from other auctions or from the passthroughs on BitFunder or Btct.co.

Well it is confirmed that Bitfountain, 1 & 2 on OzCoin are also ASICMiner, so 4TH on BTC Guild and 2TH on OzCoin means we are half way there for the first batch

Yes. I run a full node and the transaction shows up as unconfirmed, which means that it's valid (for now anyway - still not protected against double spends). I suspect what we see here is the beginning of a blockchain congestion, where the time to be included depends on the amount of fee.

quick update:

Bidders who got reported with the first batch (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=148198.msg1583680#msg1583680), please check your satoshi-type confirmation of your share holdings and that the amount of dividend you received is correct. The transaction is still not confirmed (most likely due to missing fees), so treat with care.

I also expect all remaining payments to come in today, so I can create the second report. At that time I'll also create a dividend transaction for the second batch, since the report didn't make it into this weeks dividend payment, in case you were wondering about the dividend...

i am also in first report  Wink
Ah.. yeah.. and there have been a few different transactions to confirm the shares. You're in https://blockchain.info/tx/72a9ec4eab8349937c326310267261553b0db1cfd6dd1e7d9b8f5668e2e881c2

And as far as I can tell the number of shares looks correct.

quick update:

Bidders who got reported with the first batch (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=148198.msg1583680#msg1583680), please check your satoshi-type confirmation of your share holdings and that the amount of dividend you received is correct. The transaction is still not confirmed (most likely due to missing fees), so treat with care.

I also expect all remaining payments to come in today, so I can create the second report. At that time I'll also create a dividend transaction for the second batch, since the report didn't make it into this weeks dividend payment, in case you were wondering about the dividend...
Cool, thanks!

When I will create the second report. Because then the addresses are final.

I am still waiting for a user to respond for a bid over 20 shares. If he didn't respond till this evening, I am going to offer the 20 shares to the next one and so on...

Working my way through the bidder list. I've put you at the end. There're two in front of you who can claim them if they finalize the payment.

The second update has been sent to friedcat. Below is a blanked out version of the report. The full report also included the forum name, optionally an email address and the transaction ID which was associated with the transfer. The report was signed with the key 1KbAD8KU1u6uw6nHSJEYpdZfgQbNbTAkH2

I recommend that shareholders observe the next planned dividend payment (no date given yet) and check it thoroughly. I also sent out the first weeks dividend to all the shareholders included in the second report.

Thank you,

I want to thank all participants and wish a fruit full investment. I apologize for all some of the confusing which was caused by the adhoc style of this auction.

This auction is now officially closed.

I had a few people asking a question similar to this:
Now that you've sold you're shares, is there a reason why you left the ASICMiner project?

First, I want to mention that I didn't leave the ASICMINER project at all. I am still a major stake holder of the company and have a great interest in it prospering. The auction was a way for me to sell 20% equity at a 5x profit to reduce the initial investment risk to zero, basically breaking even with the development risk. However I am still fully exposed to operational risk and benefits like every other shareholder.

Someone found an error in my post about:
"I also sent out the first weeks dividend to all the shareholders included in the second report."

In fact it was the second weeks dividend which I payed to the shareholders. The first weeks dividend was payed before the auction even started.
