Message for account sellers and buyers

First of all no im not selling a good here but i believe this is the appropriate section as most sales happen here or in auction place and this will be read from potential scumbags who are selling accounts or potential scammers buying accounts.

Is everyone who is selling an account a scumbag? The answer is obviously no to that but i think those of you who do sell the accounts are helping the potential scammers of the forum. So technically youre guilty of scamming by association or something like that. Yes i know youre trying to earn some btc and its just a way to make some money, but your little .001-.5btc you earn could potentially lead to someone else losing .5-50btc.

The argument im pretty sure ill hear here will be if ppl used escrow thered be less scams. I agree 100% but have you not taken the time to read half the scam accusations that pop up? Same stupid excuse over n over. He was a hero member i thought i could trust him. Or some other ridiculous speech. Bottom line, people are retarded. Theyre too lazy to search for an escrow or a suitable escrow isnt online at that time so they take the risk.

Now while account sales arent illegal here, only frowned upon, i think there should be some sort of line drawn. Should account sales be allowed? I think up to a certain rank yes. IMO selling of accounts member or below is ok as most likely theyve not accrued much reputation and they will most likely be bought specifically for signature campaign earnings. Any rank higher has extreme potential for scamming. Especially when you see sales threads advertising green rep.(most likely seller has no clue of how trust works, but certain users could still see a user as green if the acct is in their trust network)

The next point i want to make to sellers about selling accounts is while account sales are allowed for now, at least get your damn moneys worth. Im seeing threads with users selling full member accounts with BIN prices of .03. WTF is that? I dont know what ppl should pay for accounts but you would think since it takes approx 4.5 months to reach full member status that the account should be worth at least 1 month of what a user can earn from a sig campaign. Quit selling shit for third world prices. Make em pay or dont sell. Its all a part of discouraging scammers in the long run. Same goes for any rank account youre trying to sell.

The only message i have for buyers is QUIT TRYING to LOWBALL SELLERS. Pay up or shut up.

Yeah! I agree with you, Account prices doesn't fulfill our hard work, as an example: my account, I spend 4 Hours everyday just to get to full member and at the end it doesn't worth more than 0.02 BTC! I won't do anything with those!

I think you 2 are missing the point so far. Yea ppl sell accounts for dirt cheap like morons but im mainly trying to get ppl to see the harm theyre doing by selling these higher ranked accts

I can see you want them not to sell the high rank accounts for they could be used for scamming purposes. but while we can't force users to sell the high ranked accounts for higher value, still if they sell those for maybe 1btc or more, then they've already scammed a potential scammer. its an eye for an eye solution.

In my opinion we should not accept bitcointalk accounts as collateral for loan.

[I had done the mistake of accepting accounts as collateral in the past back when I used to lend. To my credit, I didn't sell a single account (except for giving one account to someone I know which later actually put me in trouble)]


1. I have seen that the accounts are hacked, then used to take a loan (to default later) instead of selling them directly because of obvious advantages. This would be discouraged.

2. There will be less accounts sold (after default). Better forum.

3. From 2., less supply, pushes up price (more than 0.02 for full members  ). Getting trusted accounts cost more, discouraging scammers a little.

4. More good loans.

5. Slightly discourages having more than one account. Time saved for those who spend time finding alts of scammers, etc. Better forum.

If you are using your brain and escrow, there is nowhere in the world people will be scammed by an obvious sketchy member.

Account sales are highly discouraged, and should be banned, but still, it's almost impossible since people will still be selling their account off-site.

Will address the latter part of your post first due to it being easier to pin down. Account sales are needed for loaners to recoup their loses from defaulted loans. So when you are wanting to get rid of account sales,you might as well be saying loans as well.
Sure some people would see that as a good thing as well and it usually comes from this utopia people want here,where their values are reflected in bitcoin.
The price of accounts is due to sellers flooding the market and people scared that attacks like this thread might get the rules changed and they would be caught with a bunch of garbage accounts and out of pocket. People are also stupid and that is why you see lowball offers,try selling a car on craigslist and you will be lowballed to no end.

The trust driven agendas do not sit well with me and it always feels a bit abrasive in nature to start labeling accounts in a fashion that feels predatory. Stupid people are every where and stripping the forum down because people get scammed is really achieving what?

You are right!

Nowadays people have bots doing all the work for them. If a bot can grow like 10-20 full member accounts, and sell them later on at 0.02-0.03BTC each, then it's already enough for them. Especially if they get enrolled into signature campaigns such as Yobit which allows low ranked accounts to take part in their campaign. It allows them to earn from signature campaigns and after that the accounts get sold. Money on top of more money.

Correct over a year ago i thought about selling my account. Since then my opinion of how things should be have changed. I see how people are screwed over from these types of sales and as you see i still own this account.

I don't agree with account sales. I think it's stupid and immoral. The only reason to buy an account t is to spam for a signature campaign or scam. If I'm missing a reason go ahead and point it out. I don't think anyone would buy a legendary account just for the sake of having a different coloured 5th coin but maybe I'm wrong.

The problem:

Let's say selling of accounts is banned (I'm thinking of online games where account sales are prohibited). Why not sell your account on the first website that shows up in 24h called sellyourbitcointalkdotorgaccountforbitcoins.org? What's stopping anyone from selling the account on Reddit, hackforums, the list can go on and on.

If someone wants to scam someone there is always a way unfortunately. I don't think banning account sales will resolve the problem of sold accounts. Maybe they would just jump in price a bit.

Non scumbags can do scumbaggy things.  The selling of accounts is shady and I would support a ban and negging of the seller and buyer.  Especially the buyer.  There's just too much that can go wrong.
