Currently, the moniker [btc] produces the following output: BTC.
When copied, one discovers that this is a BTC with a stylized 'B'. I propose this be replaced with the text 'XBT', to comply with the ISO standard and encourage usage of the new symbol. In addition, I propose the forum implements [xbt] as an alias for [btc].

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

BTC sounds better, ISO should adopt what people use not the other way around... This is being discussed over here too https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=148229.0 and voted here http://www.rugatu.com/questions/4377/include-a-symbol-for-bitcoin-in-iso-standard, so is really necessary to open up new threads all over the place?

Agreed. I don't much care what ISO says.

Agreed. I don't much care what ISO says. For those discontent with the reception, here's a workaround: [color=transparent]X[/color][btc]
This produces the text XBTC, which is not optimal but still better than BTC.

It's separate span tags through - search engines may see it as X BTC.

<span> tags have no spacing. A search engine that sees it as "X BTC" doesn't understand what <span> means.

No! If anything it's the ISO standard who must change to comply with MY standards. And dude, XBT? Really? That's almost as bad as BitCoin...

1) There is no ISO standard for Bitcoin. 2) If you want to use any potential standard, you can also use the proposed IANA currency registry, then you could write BTCX or just BTC. 3) I'd rather have this symbol being a "proper" B + stripes (which is anyways already a Thai Bhat symbol) than this bolded, weird monstrosity, no matter how you generate it in BB-code
