What happened::
October 14, 2014
- I paid the then BTC equivilent of $80.37 (taxes included), for a 16mp camera listed on their site.
- Immediately after, I called the customer service 800 number and asked why I wasn't able to update my phone number online. The rep claimed my current order was not visible on his system and that I must place a NEW order with the new phone number, if I wanted it updated. As the discusison continued, it was becoming obvious that I was being toyed with, so I promptly told him off while accusing him of using shadey upsell tactics, then hung up.

October 15, 2014
- They cancelled the order claiming that it was no longer in stock and that, as per company policy, a store credit or Visa (then Bitpay) gift card would be issued instead. I refused to accept those options and informed them about the consumer protection laws they were violating.


October 18, 2014
- Customer service response.



October 27, 2014
- After much ado about nothing, with regards to our communications over the previous 2 weeks, this slap in the face appeared in my inbox.


- The same camera reappeared, as "in store only".



November 4, 2014
- The Visa gift card has become a Bitpay gift certificate/card.



November 16, 2014
- NO respect for the customer what so ever.



November 17, 2014
- Another fake delivery notice. UPS shows no record of either of the alleged deliveries.

In short, stay away from these guys as they are just as dirty with their in store bait.

Yes, I used some overly descriptive words such as, "fascist", "maggot", "fascist maggot asshole", ect., but did not come anywhere close to earning my $80 worth. Grin

So much for keeping this a "family show".

The problem with using BTC with tigerdirect is, if there is any problem (quite likely considering their poor price competitiveness and service) , they only issue store credit or their gift card, your payment is basically tied up with them.

It's time for bitcoin community to become selective and boycott the merchants who treat BTC as 2nd-class payment method.

This isn't about BTC other than it was the form of payment used. The issue here is that the customer isn't getting what they paid for then gets screwed on a refund.

I love buying stuff with Bitcoin, but if for some reason I just need to get something from Tiger Direct I always use my Visa. They are literally scum, and will give you whatever runaround is necessary to try and wear people out.

this is just unacceptable behavior from a merchant. i agree the community should ban together n boycott certain merchants

I figured as much. Thats when resorted to using all caps, swearing ect., with every email/ online chat, just to see how far these people were willing to push things. You know.. the old "give them what they want" routine.

I began "losin it", 3 days in. Wink

Gez, quite bar reviews in here, glad i haven't gone with them.  What issues did you have?

Just to name a few:
1. Overpriced merchandise, pricier than amazon most of the time. Slow shipping.
2. Looong wait on customer service calls. F'd up internal computer system.
3. No cash or check refund for btc purchases, only store credit or tigerdirect gift card, very unfavorable terms.
4. You'll have to call them to check balance or place order if you want to use this credit.
5. Hard sell on overpriced warranty if you need to use your "credit".

Good to know! I hate when bitcoin is accepted by sub par businesses.   They should be in here taking notes.

Late last week, the BBB emailed me an update stating that on January 14 (exactly 3 months after the purchase date), TG had issued and mailed a refund cheque for my $80.xx purchase. It arrived yesterday and thank god(s) it didn't bounce. lol

By "sort of", I meant that TG has yet to offer any explanation and /or apology for any of the unethical and disrespectful behaviour I was subjected to.
