SBUX (Starbucks) about to break down .. will get nasty

I am currently at my local Starbucks enjoying a cup of coffee and completing my post on dollar cost averaging as a method of Bitcoin acquisition. By the way great work on your service. As for shorting SBUX vs buying more BTC, I will take the BTC. I do like their coffee.

Thanks for great feedback. I am always trying to make the best possible forecasts.

On Starbucks, I also like the company, the CEO is outstanding, and the products are great.
I just see that the worldwide trend is going down. Look at coffee prices, they have crashed and will crash more, which is a good indicator that coffee demand is going (will be going) down.

haven't drunken one coffee for over a year...for the prize of an starbucks coffee i can eat a whole lunch...

you hit the nail on the head.
There is a huge risk for Starbucks to experience price deflation. Soon people will return to home-brewed coffee which only costs pennies, or, if they go out, they do not want to pay more than a dollar or so

I've been to italy recently: espresso: €1, cappuchino: €2. sounds about right to me.

prices in the US, Switzerland, etc. need to deflate as well, and I am sure if Italy remains in the Eurozone you will get espressos for less than 30 cent soon.

After drinking tim hortons / star bucks / whatever coffee for years,  I finally decided to replace my $20 coffee maker (that I didn't use because it sucked) with a $100 model.  Now my coffee is awesome, I never go out for coffee anymore..  Though I live pretty good and could afford starbucks / whatever anyways, the coffee is so good at home and so much cheaper that it's a no brainer.   I was easily spending $100+ a month on coffee between me and my gf..  So how many times has that coffee maker paid off now that i've had it for a few months.. heh.

I am pretty sure I am not the only one coming to that realization.. and especially for people directly affected by the economic situation have / will drop starbucks like a bad habit..  Even if they are not directly affected..  makes no sense to pay $5 for a coffee.. or even $2 or $3..

Where was I going with this agian...  oh yeah.. short starbucks Tongue

Sure, there's been a lot of advertisement spam, but this thread is still the most viewed topic in speculation. Because of the lenient rules set by the OP, people prefer to advertise here.

Below is a chart displaying historical volatility. It shows that typically, higher volatility goes hand in hand with higher bitcoin prices

It's probably even better as a weekly / monthly trader. If you pick the multiweek / -month lows and highs (i.e. the one in April 2011 at 0.58$, then 31.89 $ in June 2011, then the low in Nov 2011 at 1.994 $, then you can be a happy camper
