Remembers me the days Bitmain announces the S7...deja vu? Nine months from now you can buy them for less than 500$.

Pretty similar, yet still worse. You will literally hit the halving just as you start mining with these. Then the diff will skyrocket and make it even more pointless.

Why should  diff  rise after the halving ?
I think that many of the miners turned off,  if the BTC  price stays the same or decreases.

Bitmain mining with  this (S9 blades) type miners already long ago.
Patch1 sales not affect difficulty very much. This is a small amount of very expensive and highly effective miners for home users.

What is important ,  what happens to with the all old miners. Turned off or still mining .
I think it turned out the majority of S3 and S5 and very cheaply sold a lot S7 in the whole world.

Do Bitmain will sell S7 upgrade KIT? This is the big question.
S9 Dimensions: 350mm(L)*135mm(W)*158mm(H)
S7 Dimensions: 301mm(L)*123mm(W)*155mm(H)
As shown, the S9 is longer

So I think , no upgrade KIT for S7

Nice Specs, Congratulations Bitmain. I don't think it will reach ROI at this price.
Like others, I will just wait until halving, and then reconsider.

after the halving, the price of this unit will be around $ 1000

i agree with you, just wait and then reconsider, but even with a price of $1000 i am not sure it will roi after halving.
You are right. We will see.

Nothing is impossible :-)

Same thoughts here! Many old running S3 + S5 are going to be shut-down after the halving and the diff will stay or decrease a little for some time. Hopefully the bitcoin price keeps on rising instead!

That I have found to be a good thing for miners.  It allows me with my regular electricity to sell my previous gen gear, and hopefully add some extra ROI.  Then upgrade to the latest miner.

But I think it is great how there is a market for used gear.   Also on a lot of sites it seems Bitmain/Antminer get a lot of searches on secondary sales which again is good for selling your old gear.

A roomful of S3 chewing 10kW is now only the size of one at 13% power requirement. Just when I'm starting to get cozy with S7 prices the difficulty would skyrocket... again. Sigh...

I don't think the difficulty will go down either.

The old gear like S2,S3 maybe accounts for like 5% of the total network hashrate. Most mega farms probably have S7 and won't turn off.

Unfortunately arguing price will of course go nowhere. They are selling out old S7's, S7n's, and PSU's and selling the S9 parallel with them setting them up in their own data-center. Considering their cheap (zero cost?) power they simply calculate their own break even, and price it to consumers at margin on top of that.

I don't think you are right. Few months ago Bitmain dropped the S5 or S7 price after many users complained about it.

The s9 seems over priced. To put this into perspective, let us compare S7 with S9. let say the aim is 14TH
1 S9 = $2100
1 Power Supply (from Bitmain) = $140
Shipping to the US (Fedex) = $75
Total = $2315

To get the same hash rate with S7, we need 3 S7s, 4.73 x 3 = 14.2TH
3 S7s = $1320 ($420 each)
3 power supplies = $420 ($140 each)
Shipping to the US = $140
Total = $1880

The difference is $435. If you think the space and efficiency worth the difference, go ahead and buy it. If not, (let say, you have a very cheap electricity, and plenty of space), S7 is a better option. If you ask me, I would say don't buy any of them. just wait until halving, the price will be more reasonable, and you can evaluate your investment better!

In 3 months you'll have paid ~6000x your $/kWh in additional power, so break even at $0.07/kWh ignoring the fact you're not stuck with 3x S7s rather than an S9.

The situation is quite similar to that we experienced september 2015  when S7 arrived, (halving perspective excluded).

I 'm curious to know if a lot of people who pay their electricity >= $ 0.1 / KWh won something with their S7 ?

Yes. I bought many of my S7 with USD .  With VAT 2100-2300 USD

I sold BTC at 475 EURO last month. Do Batch1/3/5 machine earned a profit of 4.5 BTC after electricity ?  Yes.

I bought my 5x S9 with BTC because I think that the BTC price will fall after halving or before.
S9 miner owners do not need a high BTC price, they require low Bitcoin Difficulty: and Network Hashrate.

To compensate for this I bought  5x S9 with USD from friend's account.

When I put them to work I have to sell my S7, because I have no more power.

If You want good and cheap S7 from EU, please click here
Ok for that, but at the begin of the S7, BTC was cost <300$. If you had buy BTC instead of S7, you should have made same (probably more) profit just by BTC value increase. Somone who have buy 10000$ of BTC last september should have 20000$ now (10000$ win).
I'm not sure that 5 S7 @2000$ last september win 20000$ in BTC, minus electricity ...

If you calculate the BTC production of each S7 on this period minus electricity fee @ 0.1$/Kwh, at constant BTC value, ROI should be wrong.

Very nice machine... more hash power than I was expecting from the S9, although like many have said the price right now is just too over priced, even for the good specs.  I think it will need to be more around $1000 before I buy some.

You are dreaming too many.

Bitmain do not make with the S9 same mistake that with the  S7

He had just sold off S7 because there was already S9 and waited on the available shelves .

At present, better miners (as S9 blades) from Bitmain  are not coming in 6 months.

She has time for them to be sold at the prize of what he wants to ask  (Selling one  miner, or 5 per account.)

The limited supply of miners per account  had a good sales strategy. Efficient  to me, I bought ten Wink

Bitmain is now the king of the home miner market.
