Here is the very brief release on the public Digitimes that did not mention the name of the client (Bitmain).
https://www.digitimes.com/news/a20180102VL201.html
There is a more detailed article on the paid side of Digitimes that mentioned Bitmain but I cannot link it since it is for paid user only.
Of course, there are no details on what Bitmain plans to do with the 12nm chips though.

This was posted in the T9+ thread and it is interesting news.

According to Digitimes, TSMC has received an urgent order from Bitmain for 100k 12nm HPC (high performance computing) chips at the beginning of 2018. 10k chips will be delivered every month in Q1 2018 and more in Q2.

I looked up in the internet and found a news article, though it is not the original one-
http://news.8btc.com/bitmain-urgent-order-100k-12nm-chips-from-tsmc-in-2018

I was unable to find the original news article wrote by Digitimes.

I was not able to, it may be BS anyway but I would not put it passed them to get chips along the lines of 12nm this year but some say 8nm(rumored) which I think would be impossible those chips would be susceptible to to noise unless they re engineer their entire miner process.

This may also be sophon and have nothing to do with mining. Chip quantities seem really low for any miner production.

I doubt it is the Sophon, they just recently got the 28nm BM1680 chip ready for the Sophon project.

I'd love to see 2 versions of AntMiner S-series for the "11". One should be focused on staying at or below 1200W so that everyone who uses the APW3++ can purchase one without having to worry about needing 220v power, The other should shoot for the full 1600W that the APW3++ can handle on a 220v circuit.

I dont like running a PSU at max capacity,  more efficient at lower loads, probably longer lifetime on the PSUs aswell!

I'd agree if we were talking about consumer grade PSUs, which are never designed to be at 100% load. Server grade PSUs on the other hand can handle 100% load 24/7. Regardless, you understand my desire. 1 model that maxes out the APW3++ @ 110v and 1 model that maxes out the APW3++ at 220v.

What I personally have liked among all the different S9 models is the 11.85 Th/s S9.

It's in the nice sweet spot with the 1200W power consumption.

My anonymous reseller just cancelled my order. I guess he sold a pallet on eBag 60@4200 per and his whole pallet got cancelled. Not clear whether they were dealing directly with bitmain,  communication is spotty at best. He seemed sincere, of course it's possible they'll be relisted at a higher price.  I think some of the connected veterans don't realize how difficult it is for us Noobs to get our hands on these gosh darned things. I paid 8400 for 2 in the first week of December. So far I got 2 refunds and a used e9. And believe me it's a much longer story than you probably want to hear. If you have been on the scene for a while and you can toss 2795 USD worth of bc on a minutes notice, you probably don't think it's a big deal. I even got through to the bitmain site once,  bitcoin in hand, but the price had gone up, and it timed out before I could scramble up the rest. I saw the guy scoffing at 3 thousand dollars for 11t machines, but I'm pretty sure you could flip them for 4500 each in about a day.

Anybody have experience with bitmain in regards to repair if you are not the original buyer of the miner. If I bought the miner from a reseller, does bitmain accept my repair without the original buyer's support ticket. The miner is still under warranty.

Well I just want one, trying since november to get one, then I had no bitcoins/bitcoins cash only visa, now I have bitcoins but their batch is announce when I sleep 03:00 my time, 09:00 china time and it is sold out in minutes, so ZERO chances for me. I will probably never have one.

The batch that was available at the beginning of December was available for like 3 weeks, 24/7  Why didn't you order then?  I actually got that order Dec 27th for 4 S9's   So.. If I can make orders at any time of the day, and yes the hard part was getting cash into an exchange to buy bitcoin cash, but once that was there, it was easy to pay bitmain.   LITERALLY 3 weeks they were available for sale.  I wish I ordered more.  I was wondering why they were still for sale for so long.. normally it was minutes, but...  not that time.

New batch coming in a couple of hours, their tweet:
Releasing a new batch of the Antminer S9 #BitcoinCash #Bitcoin miner at 5PM today (8 Jan, GMT+8) here:
https://goo.gl/tYUj8M Order then while the batch lasts!

I wonder what the price will be, they haven't updated the site from last batch price of $2320

I know this is the S9 thread, but what about the L3+ did they say anything about that? I'm praying they release another March batch soon.

Side note though, I just ran the numbers again, and apparently the 14 TH/s S9 makes ~$750 per month after electricity costs? That makes it more profitable than the L3+, giving it a better ROI time as well even though it costs more and uses more electricity. That's crazy because I was under the assumption that the L3+ was more profitable.

I either buy from this S9 batch, or wait and pray they release another L3+ batch soon, when really it could be months, and if I miss this S9 batch I'm shit out of luck.

Well, a batch is coming just now, he'll maybe able to snatch some. I watched for those 3 weeks thinking it was not a good buy and bought none (I had one already ordered on its way) then I ordered for Feb batch at a higher price... Market changes so fast. At some point there will be another period where miners are easier to get, I see how it's frustrating for people new to mining not being able to buy stuff, right now GPUs, motherboards, everything is hard to get. It will get easier, and when that happens it will look like it's not actually worth buying Smiley

This is a batch of S9 not L3+, bitcoin cash only I'm guessing as usual. I don't know why you want an L3+, the S9 makes more money (well, at least now, things change fast so who knows in a week).

I have one of each. Unfortunately one of my S9 boards died, and that is not uncommon. With 2 out of 3 boards the S9 makes the same money than the L3+ It's impossible to know what is going to happen in the future, but I'm more concerned about the Scrypt network getting saturated than about the SHA256 network. I bought a second S9 the other day, I wouldn't buy another L3+ right now.

I should have been keeping up with the times more. A month or two ago the L3+ was far more profitable than the S9, but now that seems to be flipped around.

Not necessarily a bad thing though since they're about to release another batch of them Wink

True. I just wonder what they're going to price this batch at, and if it will be March or April. I really hope the price isn't too much more than the last one.
