JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1551817.0

I have recently posted a scam accusation against bitmain, I DO NOT claim him to be a direct scammer, I am claiming he has used my details to ship multiple items.

I have been contacted with intent of investigation from a few importing authorities from around the world as to why I am not providing proof of identity due to KYC from these countries.

My units along with many others are now being sent back to bitmain.

I am, now acquiring legal representation to prove those units are not mine (easy as I have most of the inf I need) this is now costing me time and money.

lol I only ordered 2 units! I will not use bitmain directly again, this is just a stupid shipping mistake, but a costly one.

BITMAIN has not responded to my direct and indirect inquiries so hence this move.

Best all, carry on.

Does Bitcoinwisdom still use the old block reward for litecoin?

They do, though it's easy to fix.

I suspect the owner of the site has either been way too busy, or just doesn't care enough about the site any more, to fix the block rewards.
It would also be nice if they would update their markets selection on the main page.

The flexability still makes it my favorite calculator by a wide margin.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

your numbers are good

most want below 100c  chips

and below 65 c            boards.

but  all of mine are like 62c-92c  a spread of 30 c

I never read a 45c -90c until you

can you post a screen shot of your gui?

There HAS GOT to be a good way to shut up that SIREN sound on the S9 11.85!!!

I have read on here about loosening screws, tightening screws, and putting some paper on the intake to partially block air flow. There may be other suggestions that I missed as I haven't read every page.

Well, I have tried loosening and tightening without any effect.

Putting a piece of cardboard to partially block the intake works, but, of course, raises the temperatures.

I have also set the fan speed manually to 87%. But if I take that cardboard away, the siren starts back up.

I'm concerned the neighbors are going to complain if I don't shut up that noise because their front porch faces the windows that I'm drawing air in from. And I really don't WANT to obstruct air flow as I've had to down-clock a lot to keep it cool enough.

Any other thoughts on that noise? Would switching out one or both fans have any effect?
Good Lord that is an abrasive sound!!!!

Thanks for any more thoughts on this annoying and irritating problem!! Smiley

EDIT: Does the foam AC filter trick work well? Are you covering the whole intake or just the part that will stop the squeal?
Hell, I'll cut a piece off of an AC I'm not using right now. Thanks!!

EDIT2: Well putting an AC filter over the intake didn't stop the squeal. BUT, I found that taping a small piece of cardboard on the top right corner of the out-take fan did stop the noise. The noise has stopped but I'm not too keen on having flammable cardboard in that hot zone. I have to find a replacement material. It's also keeping the temps higher than I would like even with it under-clocked.

Still seeking a good solution.  Undecided

On the S9 controller there is two fan connectors but the board have place for 6 others fans connectors.

Do you know if these connectors placeholder receive power? If yes would it be possible to add fan connectors.

Here is an idea for a quieter miner. Remove the case and have 2 fans pointing directly at each blade sideways. So the fans would be pointing directly over the heatsink. With this setup I'm sure it would be possible to use lower cfm fans (quieter). 6 quiet fans is a lot better than 2 jet engines. Anyone tried this?

If the controller cannot power more than 2 fans it is possible to use a 1-to-3 splitter to power 3 fans per connector.

The case serves a cooling function too - directs airflow and probably dissipates heat as well. I would be very careful with a mod like that. Among other issues you'd likely have hot air getting mixed back into intake.

Yeah it would   be cool if you could take them to a court and take a few million in Aus dollars from them.

Even 5 bucks for every s-1, s-3, s-4, s-5, s-7, s-9 they ever built would be nice .

One consultation is if there is life after death and a spiritual settlement they will owe you and ck quite a bit. <

Not sarcasm it just is more likely to happen then getting the money owed you in this life.

It would appear that by renaming it to "bmminer" they intend to pretend that it's not cgminer at all...

Snapped a pic for you, this at least is what worked for me. Completely eliminated that soul-wrenching whine up until it hits max RPM, at which point you would still hear it a bit if it wasn't in the enclosure.

It takes both that little piece of duct tape, and the furnace filter over the fan to dampen it completely. Really hasn't seemed to affect the temp much if it all, it runs noticeably cooler than my S7's in the same enclosure.

There's always a chance that the fan may be particularly bad, worth sending an email to Bitmain to try and get a replacement out of them although I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

Also found they finally added the F1 fans for purchase: https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160427064355841K5mkl8F70673

If it's that bad you may have to break down and roll the dice on another fan, at least they're not too expensive.

EDIT: Forgot to add link for the furnace filter: http://www.rona.ca/en/furnace-filter-02095249--1

down clock it some more. and lower fans to 50%

Try freq 475  with a 45% fan   it will give about 9.5 to 9.9th

Well I was running at 518 during the hottest part of the today (mid 90's F) and had the fan at 87% then bumped to 90% The siren was still there at either speed. The temps were acceptable between 90-94 for the chips. It's now midnight with out-outdoor air temps around 69.

I have bumped the freq back to 550 (default for this batch) and the chip temps are between 83-86.

It's running around 11.55TH which is acceptable.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'll be damned if I'm going to run it that low (475) to make it run without a siren. I bought it to increase my hash as close to 12TH or more as I could get.
For now the little piece of cardboard I have taped to the top right quadrant of the out-take fan has stopped the noise.

My 12.93 batches don't make the siren sound, FWIW.

Seems like that was something Bmain should have fixed at the factory. But considering their apparent lack of caring about certain things, I'm not surprised.

Thanks for your suggestion. Tomorrow I'm going to cut a small square piece of mental to affix to the out take fan. And pray for cooler weather. LOL  Shocked

Also, when it's out of warranty and the overall day/night temps are cooler , I'm going to bump the freq on that one to 587-600 and see how it behaves. Judging by the chip temps now with out door temps in the high 60's, it should run fine come fall/winter at the higher freqs.

Again, thanks for the replies.
