In my opinion, there is nothing that gives any indication that a new SHA-256 miner, better than the S9, is anywhere near release date.

Correct on release date.  But it's definitely mining right now.

Evidence please?

Evidence?  Do you know how business works?  I'm quite sure Bitmain isn't following your example by not testing future equipment.

Rung along kiddo, the grown-ups are talking now.

PS, research AsicBoost, pools would only implement it if........yes.......wait for it.....compliant miners were mining at their pools.

1) Didn't answer question
2) Resorted to insults.

I rest my case your honour.

N.B. At no point did I state that Bitmain does not test future products.

Actually, the question was answered, you just didn't get the answer you wanted.   You can't have your way all of the time.

And yes you did inherently state that Bitmain does not test future products, again read up on Asicboost, even though that's not part of the answer you're wanting to know.

Are you just looking for an argument, no matter what the subject?

I asked for actual evidence of a new, improved top tier SHA-256 miner.  All I see is waffle and conjecture.

You sir, have provided none.  I asked the question, therefore I can be as specific as I like.

Some of us can see things and can make 2+2 = 4 without being given the answer...you unfortunately do not possess that capability.

Enjoy your waffles and french toast.

Wow, so many S9s for sale everywhere! So many miners for sale from the handful of manufacturers too. If you bought a month or a week ago, you got screwed as they are all starting to drop their prices back down to where they were 6 months ago. Bitmain been dropping theirs every few weeks now. And they have so many miners available at different price points too.

I'll ask you one more time, for the sake of charity.

What evidence is there that there is a SHA-256 top tier miner being released, to rival the S9?

I won't be making any more posts in response to your good self in this topic anymore.

Hypothetical situation, or is it?

"Hi I'm a pool operator for a mining pool who has been asked by MORE THAN ONE ASIC PRODUCER, to specifically add code for a new, unreleased miner."   Now why on earth would anyone do that BEFORE a new miner is produced/released?

I sent a few miners to Bitmain in LA for repair last December. I paid BTC per request. Then they asked me to pay BCH after 2 weeks and they said they would refund BTC. Ok I paid BCH. After 3 months they still have not sent the miners back as they promised the miners would be send out within 7 working days. I wonder whether it's only me having this issue or it's typical for repair.

Obviously Bitmain is dumping all the miners and they don't care about the service any more. Dealing with these Chinese companies is really painful. No wonder people would rather pay more on eBay for miners, instead of dealing with Bitmain directly.

1850 USD w/psu, it's actually cheaper right now to buy on ebag from a US shipper if you're in the US, no customs.

And Phillipma if you're around, the changes are making the s9 more profitable than my gpus for the moment, although that will probably change again.

Guys, I am confused  Huh

Antminer S9 14 TH/s batch is already sold out...like in 1 day.

What I don't get is why the demand is so high  Undecided

Look:

1) BTC is currently trading $8500
2) Antminer S9 14 TH/s price with APW3++ is $1864. With delivery costs and taxes that's about $2000
3) Antminer S9 currently produces about 0.001 BTC per day. That's 0,03 BTC per month. Taking into account difficulty growth Antminer S9 will produce during its life 0,03 BTC * (1 + Monthly difficulty growth) / Monthly difficulty growth (since its infinitely decreasing geometric progression)
4) Average monthly difficulty growth
- in 2017 was 17%
- in 1Q 2018 is 23%
5) So with let's say 18% monthly difficulty growth Antminer S9 will produce 0,03 BTC * (1 + 18%) / 18% = 0,197 BTC during its life
6) But now for the cost of equipment ($2000) you can buy $2000 / $8500 = 0,235 BTC

So you can get 0,235 BTC now or buy ASIC and get 0,197 BTC in like 2-3 years.

Whats the point? Why are people buying Mining equipment now?

Maybe I am wrong somewhere?

I don't account for transactions conformation fee. Is it large? How much in fees you get for one Antminer S9?

Because you are not taking into account the resale value of the miner. While it is going down a little every day, IT IS NOT 0.

Its funny reading the posts in this forum, where people state there is an upper tier SHA-256 miner, better than the S9 already mining, prior to being sold.

They never provide any proof.  Sometimes they make claims that pool operators are being asked to alter code.  Once again NOT PROOF!

Sniff, sniff.  I smell FUD.

I too bought 10 units a few weeks ago for 2500 shipped each after all said, and done. Then they sold 14th models for 1800+ with PSU! I am really pissed off, and I can't even sell my unit to break even, and it will take 13-14 months just to cover the cost of the miner even with my per KW rate is .06 cents and no rent. Sad

I feel like the only option now is to run them..don't really want to sell for a loss, when they are brand new, and just arrived. Sad

Hi everybody! What do you think about the mining in 2018?

Manufacturers of popular cards raise prices very much.
Maybe this will be the impetus for new video card manufacturers to enter the market?
