100% sure about that, new miner coming soon. Received a note from a wechat Chinese reseller with 5000 pieces for each S9i 13th, 13.5th and 14th, total 15000 units for grab.

Bitmain now listing the s9 as s9i on the site with lower price.  Anyone know what the difference is?

U sure about this? Do they do this in the past before a miner comes out? I hope it isnt true

Selling 100 dollar coupons (8units expire 11th June, 14 units expire 1st july) and 125 dollar coupon (2 unit exp 30th June). Selling at 20% of value

yes i can send you the original jpeg file with those 15k miners available and ready for delivery b4 20th May. High chance they are getting rid of refurbished units from their farm and already have higher specs miner to replace them. maybe we can keep a close watch on the global hash rates to confirm

I have been thinking this as well.  Ever since the T9+ showed up it has felt like a fire sale ever since.

Antpool hashrate went up quite a bit past 2 weeks with at least 500ph added to it. Assume new miner is 28th per unit, 500ph = 500,000th/28th, about 17.8k miner added, and reseller has 15000 S9i to clear off. If you look at antpool hash rate graph on the 5th of May and 6th of May, a sudden change of 600ph in one day. maybe unplugging old miners and install new one. Just a wild guess.

So the 'new' S9is are just rebranded S9s and nothing more just like what happened with the S7 -> V9 but with no major changes except for the name unlike the V9? I'm taking a quick scan through specs and it seems just about the same. Perhaps chips were tweaked to provide better power efficiency a bit or something of the sort?

The S9i is only slightly better in terms of the power efficiency than the S9.

Yes 1300W instead of 1400W for the 14TH. Disappointed.

I expected a 20 TH/S for 1000W Smiley

No, I mean the power consumption savings were something like 10-20 Watts only. If I remember right.

most s-9 did  .11 at the wall

so a 14th used 1540 watts at the wall

very few of the 30+ s-9's i have had did  0.098 at the wall.

@ mods this is very important to not delete it shows that voltage can be adjusted and power savings of 5 to 20% can be done.

So most likely the s9i is using software like this.

It also means  if you have s9's you may be able to  reduce the power they use.

I also suspect bitmain will not release the s-11 until Nov or Dec.

as this gear buries prices on both canaan and Halong.

been looking at an "in" to get started, this s9i seems like a decent deal to get started with.

please tell me if i am wrong, i've been searching and reading but was waiting for a good situation to get started. i have low power costs so that should be alright even with difficulty increase

I'll quote you on that when I get the gear. I'll compare them to the A841s and the S9s that I have. I needed to expand the mine anyways

Has anyone here heard of rumors about the near launch of an Antminer S9i?
I know someone who claims that Bitmain is going to launch a mining rig (Antminer S9i) that mines Bitcoin at 35% decreased use of electricity.
The launch is supposed to be on 1st April. Does anyone have more information on this?

So they did release this miner.

Does anyone knows the average usage of the S9 machines depending on their hashrate?

I would like to add some of my machines to a mining farm and actually I don't really think the 14th machine takes the same power as the 13th machine?

13,5th is average about 1400W ( not sure about that, but that's what I am paying ).

Thank you!

13.5 THs at wall is about 1550 W measured.

Not sure it is, measured it with 1380 W recently.. I even have one miner with only 2 hashboards running, so they should decrease their power usage of 30% ?

A couple of thoughts about the very moderate efficiency improvement. First, I wouldn't be surprised if they are just reducing the hashing board voltage by 1-2 volts. You can do this on the D3 with the Blissz firmware and it lowers the electrical usage without seeming to lower the hash rate. (sometimes undervolting even improves it a bit.) I also notice that they are quoting AC electrical usage as +10% now. If my memory isn't completely out of whack, I recall they used to quote it as +/- 5%. Anyone else remember this?
