I am looking forward to this. I hope to one day be able to easily SPEND my btc on stuff I want, and not feel like I have to sell on an exchange and then just buy in USD.

Good job bitpay!

Now, if I happen to live in Irak, I expect the order to fail because Amazon would reject it, right?
I guess you meant Iran because of trade sanctions...? In that case, let's not discuss it in public, as discussion can hurt the efforts.

Sounds great! Is there anywhere we can see which merchants have adopted this?

This is very upsetting.

If this kind of thing persists, there is a real danger that Bitcoin will achieve mass adoption. If this happens, I will need to find some other way to feel smarter than the masses.

This is huge, and the timing couldn't be better for my business.

We were just considering switching to a WordPress infrastructure for our online business, and away from Magento as our shopping cart.

We were also in talks to scrap our fulfillment service and switch to Amazon fulfillment instead.  They've got warehouses all over the USA and nobody can do logistics and fulfillment better.

More importantly, they allow you to offer Amazon Prime to your customers, and this completely eliminates shipping fees.

With the US Postal service more than doubling their rates over the last couple years, this is huge.

Super excited about this.

What am I missing...?

It's not huge, it's not even slightly significant.    This service isn't approved by amazon.

Basically I pay bitcoin to Bitpay.  Then Bitpay place the order on Amazon on my behalf, most likely making their money off amazon referral fee.

Bitpay is still using credit cards/amazon vouchers to complete their purchase, amazon still skimming their 12%, credit card companies still get their few % cut, now it's just another man in the middle, taking a cut of the cost.

This isn't new, someone was already doing it with both ebay and amazon and it won't be that popular i assure you.

If you're not a merchant currently entertaining the idea of using Amazon Fulfillment like we are, it probably isn't exciting news to you.
As for it not being huge to the whole universe ... baby steps are better than no progress at all, yeah?
