Hey, I'm new here! I played around with Bitcoins a bit last year, and am only just now coming back.. their value has raised considerably!

Anyways, I created an Android app that shortens Bitcoin addresses (sort of like a url shortener). It's powered by http://btc.to/ and firstbits.

EDIT March 24th: The app now supports firstbits! If there is any other shortener service people want, I'll see if I can add it!

This is the app's website: Link
And you can download it here for free: Link

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Very cool! It would be nice if it used firstbits from the blockchain instead of relying on a centralized database but still cool.

Hey, that's a really good idea, I'll have to look into it. Maybe I'll have some sort of tab design that lets you switch between the two
