Okay, I'll admit that I fucked up, hence deleting all my posts. Please feel free to delete all yours as well related to this unfortunate episode.

Bruno

PS: To all those reading this, I currently don't see any problems with 42Coin.

A noob question from a Newbie. Is there a chance for me to mine this coin with my silly i5, in pool (if there will be one), and using minerd program?

You will be able to mine 42 solo, but the block reward is 0 coin + tx Fees. So, the only real way to get 42 will be to swap the old coins for the new ones.

But why would i waste my processing power for 0 block reward?

During the swap period there will be a lot of transactions with commission, so the reward will above zero. Also, keep in mind that the coin is really rare... only 42 coins will be minted and no more, never!

having in mind the fact that coins of less than 80 and that they minimise not, then really they can be hooked only on the exchange that push the price up, and that will ensure uniqueness

question on the wallet, which has 0 connections. what can I do?
thank you

Current money supply: 80.2085338 coins. We will reach 84 coins in the old chain @ block #1990382, ETA ~09-Jan-2017.

Yes, that is right. You can always check actual nodes here: http://www.zpool.ca/explorer/peers?id=191 and here: https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/CoinInfo/?coin=42 (by clicking on "Connections:").

Hi,
about the swap: what if  people don't swap all 80+ coins till January, 10, 2017, will they be able to swap coins after, if they have them stuck on the old chain?

People will swap until block #1990382 (84 coins) + 42 hours, the remaining new coins will go to the development. The old coins will stuck on the old chain.

Quote
Are you certain it is a good idea to mine a coin with 0 reward?
The better idea would be to swap 83 coins and to leave only 1 coin for mining for years with halving rewards every year so that the limit of 42 coins will be reached never, people will be glad to mine it even for small rewards and it will support the block chain over long term.

It is impossible to leave 1 coin for PoS for years: only very big inputs will give a reward - that is not good for the network, the small inputs will give zero due to the rounding in the formula of PoS reward calculation. In case of PoW, the block reward will not cover the costs...

I think, if you are holder, you must support the network. Moreover, with PoS it is not so difficult. To run 42 as full node you just need to keep port #24242 opened (#4242 for the new chain).

Quote
I think it's not fair that people who don't know about a swap (there are many long term investors since 2014 who are not active) will not have a chance to swap coins after January, 2017. Some people have bought coins and thinking it's decentralized just hold it long term and don't look at forum. When finally they will disclosure that their coins are stuck, and no chance to swap them, they will say they are scammed, and they will be right. It will hurt a coin in future.

I will send a PM to everybody, who was active (more than one msg) in 42 threads since 2014. There will be a notice on cryptopia too. As an exception, I will let the people to swap after the January, 2017, if their old coins were not touched after the block #1990382 and we will have remaining the new coins.

Quote
The block reward can cover the costs in future when (if) 42 coin will have a large market cap.
Even if not, people are ready to mine until they believe in bright future even if it's a very small reward.

Who will mine nowadays with so small reward? We already have lack of miners (and regular stuck of blocks) due to the current low reward/price.
I understand that the block reward can cover the costs in the future, the same as tx fee. That is why PoW reward will be 0 + tx fees.

For better sync add this lines to your 42.conf file:

Code:
addnode=184.185.216.85:24242
addnode=77.52.28.54:24242
addnode=93.76.1.154:24242
addnode=85.236.188.28:10021
addnode=115.28.38.190:11103
addnode=87.182.70.135:24242

If you do not synchronize your wallet for a long time, you need to download a blockchain snapshot (links in the OP) and replace all the files in 42 data base directory.

Is everything fine with it, 'cause it is still out of sync? Or I did smth wrong? Or it will be ok when the net will be alive tomorrow?

Old chain is alive. After adding of nodes you should restart the wallet. What is your wallet version number?

Do you mean you intend to keep any coins that don't get swapped in 2017 for yourself? That could be a big share of all the existing coins. It would be better to burn any left over coins if half of them don't get swapped instead of making yourself a whale.
