Hi everyone! I am very new to Bitcoins and I am panicking right now so I would really appreciate some help.

- Bought bitcoins on localbitcoins
- Successfully deposited onto my walled on there
- Went on Bitcoin Core... File > Receiving Address > New... and created an address
- Sent from localbitcoin wallet to this address.

I immediately panicked when I saw my balance on Bitcoin Core was still 0! However, I checked on localbitcoins FAQ and it advised me that I have to wait for at least 6 'confirmations'. I have recently checked it is now 7 'confirmations'

Bitcoin Core also says 'Synchronizing with Network' 3 years and 29 weeks behind!? WTF? do I really have to wait until this is synchronized? Some people on other forums say it can take days.

Is there anyway I can reverse this transaction so my BTC are immediately back on local bitcoins? Or do I have to wait?

Thanks so much and sorry for the noob post! Grin

Your not going to see any money in you wallet utill it has fully synchronised which is probably going to take a few days since you are so far behind. have no fear though you coins are where they are supposed to be. you just need to wait now. If your worried you can check on the blockchain but if you sent to one of your addresses then no problem.

You can transfer your coins elsewhere while its synchronising if im right but its not worth the hassle. i would just wait.

Can you tell us the address you transferred the coins to?
If it's just one address, you could export your private key from core and import it in electrum... But like helloeverybody said: it's a hassle... If you need the BTC urgent, it's an option, if you can wait, i'd just let it sync...

Yes...If you are having issues now, I would not try messing around with the other functions just yet.  Wait for your wallet to synchronize and everything will be fine.  Once your core wallet is synced, it wont have to sync the whole chain again....the core wallet is the more secure but the electrum wallet is quicker and lighter on system resources....the core client helps secure the network so hosting the core client makes you a more significant member of the community....Welcome to the team!

SIDENOTE: My core client took about a week to synchronize....

I can give you the steps you need to take for exporting your private key if  you wish but i  would highly recommend against thi.   Your safest and  easiest option is just to wai.   Exporting private keys is not really what you want to be doing especially if your new. All  you need to worry about is that blockchain says the transaction has sent to the address you sent to.  If so then no need to worry ,  coins are safe.

If you haven't done so yet, you should immediately create a backup of your wallet.  Store the backup somewhere safe.  That way, even if something happens to your computer while it is synchronizing, you'll still be able to recover access to your bitcoins. You CAN create the backup while the wallet is still synchronizing, the backup WILL still have everything needed to recover access to the bitcoins in the future.

if you won't to use bitcoin core, just export private key of address to another (light) wallet.
