It`s impossible, it`s a mere nonsense, Altcoin can`t go beyond bitcoin, everything is clear. Of the price alone bitcoin is very high, like elephants and cats.

I agree its a looooongshot, but saying it is impossible merely shows a lack of imagination  Wink

Here's a scenario:
Governments agree to add various tax restrictions on all bitcoin purchases. This puts a great choke hold on BTC commerce and users would seek alternatives. This would prove beneficial for any altcoins which can circumvent regulations by being either:

1 invisible (privacy coins like Verge XVG).

2 Another option is altcoins which exist entirely outside of any global administration (like Nexus NXS to be utilized and decentralized in space).

It will really be hard to say whether it will be replaced or not, time will tell but a lot of Alts have tried and failed maybe "the next big thing" can do the magic we are waiting. But in the real sense, Bitcoin has really come to stay and has maintain its position right up there and even other cryptos real value are determine in relation to the price of Bitcoin just like the USD in the FIAT world but who knows? We can't tell anything for certain

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
Yes it is possible especially when bitcoin encounter a problem not solve as early as it other cryptocurrency will boost and can replaced bitcoin as a number 1 cryptocurrency. It will depend on the situation too but for now I think it wont happen because bitcoin was now growing and slowly developing. It become more popular now and its value was continue increasing now.

My mainstream investor friends do not own any crypto, and they repeatedly gloated to me with something like, "wait until the US government releases FedCoin!"

Well, we already have FedCoin.  It's lost 99.5% of its purchasing power since 1913.

Also, I tell them that their envy and regret at missing out on the rally is not an attractive character trait, and it only weakens their ability to identify attractive investments.

Bitcoin has created a name and reputation for himself. I doubt that another currency will be able to compete with it.

I've already posted a couple of reasons why BTC could be replaced, so to be fair, here's a reason to the contrary.

It probably has already been mentioned, but IMHO one of the most important reasons Bitcoin will for the time being remain at the top is it has by far the largest development team behind it - constantly improving and adding innovation.

Remember - We are still at the advent of the cryptocurrency age! Anything can and will happen. Stay curious  Smiley

In my opinion, BTC wants to grow up, it needs to be improved or changed many times more but it will always exist and forever exist, even if it is separated into something that is not BTC. BTC forever exists because it is king and it is a very basic and understandable concept, which is what has entered the minds of people. Grin Grin Grin Grin

It won't occur if the cost of bitcoin nevertheless at the high price. Since bitcoin that have really large price for every coin. To exchange bitcoin, that crytocurrency need to be more good and also have a new 'thing'
As of this days, bitcoin is very demand and popular in the world of crypto currency. Its value, is getting high and it will never be replaced easily, maybe there will other crypto currency someday that may compete bitcoin but it will never replaced easily the performance of bitcoin.

Bitcoin is very strong and it's hard to replace bitcoin basing on what is happening now, when it pump altcoins will bleed and we know only one of the altcoins that we are seeing now can replace bitcoin, probably Ethereum but it continue to go dump as bitcoin is moving the opposite direction.

Well it's possible that bitcoin can be replaced by another currency but these current alts don't give us much of a choice, maybe there are others in line with better technologies behind tyhat that might completely outdo bitcoin but until then i don't think any of the current altcoins can overtake bitcoin.

My doubts for that is as high as bitcoin's market value today. I don't think that there is a digital coin today that would surpass or even match bitcoin's value. Not under bitcoin's watch if i may say because bitcoin is not just the mainstream currency but it's the currency of the people. But maybe yes (alt coin will replace bitcoin), in the future if bitcoin will be gone for good.

The chances of bitcoin becoming so obsolete that it will be replaced by another cryptocurrency are very small.
Bitcoin had proved to be irreplaceable due to so many reasons. Let's consider the market value of bitcoin i.e the btc/dollar rate,  which other cryptocurrency could have such high value.
The features of bitcoin also remains unbeatable. Its anonymity, secure transaction and so more has made bitcoin the best cryptocurrency.

No economy of the world is ideal.
Economy of any country changes as per the need, it accepts new changes and removes the old one.
Earlier trades were settled by using barter method, later valuable metals were used, then coins were introduced, then fiat currency get introduced. Later paper currency is joined by Digital money.
Now its time decentralised, digital cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.
Bitcoin gets introduces in 2009 with price tag of $0 now within span of 8 years it has reached $7000.
Bitcoin too have some loopholes/limitations/drawbacks which is why some nations are banning it in their economy.
May be tomorrow a new currency will replace bitcoin by removing its current drawbacks.

I think it is very difficult to happen in the near future, we all know that bitcoin is the first and most popular cryptocurrency, everyone knows bitcoin and few know ethereum, waves or anything else.

Things can't be predict in the future. I believe there is nothing that could not happen in this world. But at the moment, based on a lot of statistics, i believe for more 4 or 5 years bitcoin could not be replaced by any other crytocurrency because bitcoin is now has the most potential, more and more investors would spend spend their money on this digital coin. Things happen when we less expected so we can't tell nothing about the future
