Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

how about NO.

Ripple == Trust.  And Trust is the greatest liability of all.

Not to mention it does nothing for the un-banked.

Many of the unbanked don't have internet or mobile phones (some do of course) so crypto does little for them in general. Crypto is wildly volatile, also not good for the unbanked who can't take on that sort of risk. There's no technical reason in the future why XRP can't do for the unbanked what bitcoin does. Most cryptos do nothing for the unbanked. Actually companies like Factom could be quite helpful for the poor in 3rd world countries by creating an immutable proof of land ownership etc.

Money IS quantified trust.

To write errorless code you need errorless humans, as we're all now acutely aware of since the reaping of the DAO.

Good to see an XRP thread afterall.
This coin deserves a lot more than what it currently is.

In the past i've not thought much of xrp or what call Zerp. But they have shown they are here for the long haul and actually are making real world progress. One look at google news shows just how much they are up to. I'm long. Expect five cent zerp one day.

From day one Ripple has been run as a company not a community enterprise. We all know just how many are mined and distributed.

XRP is the yang to bitcoins decentralized experiment. This is a centralized experiment and was promoted as such from day one.

I speculate XRP is getting ready for a massive price boom. It is already being accumulated judging from the average volume is slightly higher than usual. Please look at the chart to verify.
