This is getting ridiculous.  probably the same people over and over just creating new accounts and then posting threads w\ accounts they just created.

Admins, where are you?  Why is this being allowed to carry on?

Can we please make it so that you can't start a thread unless you have 50-100 posts?  Or at least not right when you sign up.

I have to second that request.

The problem is you don't want to stifle the legitimate newcomers to Bitcoin, because we want the community to grow.  However, with anything that garners attention, you get scammers and trolls.

We could also use some additional moderators to get rid of Reported posts.

Here's a few mods that may help:

Here's a mod that could be added to allow moderators to dock post count for spam posts (reported).
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1007

This one would allow members to ignore other members:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2118

This one would allow "Time Online" to measure a Member's Rank, instead of just Post Count.  This could be VERY useful, because it would force new users to read and be involved, but they wouldn't be able to post until they had been on the boards long enough:

Sounds like a really good idea to me. Usually, when coming to a forum you don't immediately start a thread. Instead, you lurk for a while, start participating in the conversations. Eventually, you might have a good reason to start a thread.

I think 10 posts minimum before being allowed to create new threads should be newbie-friendly enough. My feeling is that this forum is currently under attack, and it's really not doing Bitcoin any good to have all these B/S-threads.

I vote for 100 min posts to start a thread. The forum is currently unuseable.

I don't think it's a good idea, people will spam just to start threads.
Maybe some minimal "reputation" requirement and implement giving positive reputation points for posts.

Thank you mods! Kiss
The forum is now way better than the silliness we saw this weekend. The funny thing is that it seems to have done away with some of the worst examples. The "new user" area is relatively civil today?
Thanks again.
