So BTC, LTC, DCR, VTC has working atomic swaps, this means that we have successfully step the ladder up for decentralise exchange. However, there are some prerequisite in order to achieve this tech.

Both chains must support:

- branched transaction scripts
- the same hash algorithm in both chains’ transaction scripts
- signature checks in transaction scripts
- CheckLockTimeVerify or CheckSequenceVerify (“CLTV” and “CSV” for short) in transaction scripts

So this works closely with the forks of bitcoin such as the mentioned cryptocurrencies above. Well, how about the other cryptocurrencies that aren't derived from bitcoin's code? We'll it's not impossible as there are work-arounds with the prerequisites and that's entirely with the other respective coin's roadmap.

Personally, I'm interested to see how atomic swaps is going to play out with China's ban on exchanges. This seems like the ban would not matter as people can just do atomic swaps instead.
