Most of the top threads in "Bitcoin Discussion" have either been taken over by trolls or were actually started by trolls.  I've been reporting left and right, as I'm sure other people have been as well.  This is very very bad for the public image of bitcoin, which is why the trolls are doing it.

People from other sites are angry about the large sums of money being made on bitcoin and they're determined to ruin the party.

What can we do?

Bitcoin Core developer [PGP] Warning: For most, coin loss is a larger risk than coin theft. A disk can die any time. Regularly back up your wallet through FileBackup Wallet to an external storage or the (encrypted!) cloud. Use a separate offline wallet for storing larger amounts.

We could set up some post quality requirements and hire more mods to enforce. But the forum policy has always been contrary to that. Thread rating and autohide of bad threads would be better, if there are suitable smf plugins for that.

Yeah, it might be just a matter of weathering the storm.
