Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has apologised for the downing of a Russian military jet near the country's border with Syria, saying there was no deliberate intention in carrying out the attack, a Kremlin spokesman said. Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin received a message from Erdogan expressing his "sympathy and deep condolences" to the family of the killed pilot, and "asked to be forgiven".

Ibrahim Kalin, Erdogan's spokesman, confirmed that the Turkish leader sent the letter saying he was "sorry" for the incident, Hurriyet newspaper reported. Turkey had not previously apologised for the November 2015 incident, which killed one Russian pilot and triggered a diplomatic row between Ankara and Moscow.

Good to see the goat fucker coming back to his senses. We can consider lifting the anti-Turkish sanctions, once he pays the compensation for the downed fighter jet and the murdered pilot.

Russia is not guilt free in this situation, they are only propping up Assad to retain their Mediterranean base and try to poke around in the Middle East. In the same situation, if a foreign jet buzzed into and out of Russian airspace, they would likely be shot down too. There is no need to probe your neighbours airspace and it is a very aggressive act. That said, Erdogan is just floating along with whoever will progress his religious agenda.
