Hi There,

My friend has bought a media center online that was faulty, he noted this 2 days after he received the product and asked for a refund.

The company said that they were happy to refund him but the problem was with the hard disk and he should put in a new hard disk in, they sent him out a new hard disk with instructions. This took a week to arrive.

the device still doesn't work after the new hard disk replacement so they suggested a firmware upgrade which he done 2 days ago.

He has asked them again for a refund and they are now saying that its passed 14 days of the consumer contracts regulation and he has no right to a refund and also he has opened the device (under their instruction) which voids them giving him a refund.

This was all forced by their hand, I am wondering where my friend stands with this? I said get some legal advice as even the threat of a small claims court and a nicely worded letter will most likely make them comply. all he wants is a working device. It cost him £399.

Thanks if anyone can help.
