I don't see any membership costs or anything. I'm sure there are some ads, but I don't see many. Is this mostly a charitable operation?

Thank you for having me.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

There are adds around here and you will see that in between posts in threads like this, your eyes may not see a lot but with the number of visitors and users of this forum it's enough to run the site without asking for further donations. When the site was still young, this site accepts donations, but as of now paid ads are enough.

Yes ads and donations are two main and I think only source of income of this forum.
You can check the list of donators here https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html
I am not sure how often it is updated but it has the list of all users who donated to forum.
More details about donations can be found here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38071.0

Whilst the forum does make money from ads, we're mostly financed by the Illuminati.

Actually this thing is mainly and clearly will tell by the moderatora of this forum .
As already the reply from the moderator that the main income is from the  adds the .
But here another source of income I seen that is from the supports of the users in this forum .
Here some of the billionaire making donation to this forum at a particular address (you can see the address in the section of the button , member , In the top of this forum heading ) .
The big donators got the new options to write private text in his profile  ( you can see the word written in the profile of the above main thread moderator ) .
So this is mainly donation and the advertisement that is making stable and perfectly ideal this forum .

I tought that forum doesn't gets donations anymore, but I recently checked bitcoin donation address and found some solid donations.
But main forum source of income is advertisements. There are not many ads are shown, but it's enough to maintain forum.

Oh, thank god!

I come from a family of Free Masons. I've also been a Knight Templar (on a part time basis) for my local community. Wearing the knight's armor is just too much for me to do full time.

Let those who are intended to inherit the earth continue on their path toward total world domination shrouded in secrecy and threat of conspiracy theory.

Better men make a better world.

I think it is the number of the sites visitor if I am correct the site is also getting paid by the number of the visitor,
So if I am correct it is not just the donation and the ads but this site is also earning a lot because of the visitors or because of us.

This is the official Bitcoin forum, started by Satoshi, so it's not going for a huge profit.

But they do take donations, and they have a donator rank for people who donate BTC10 (and VIP for BTC50).  The price of Bitcoin has gone up quite a lot since those ranks are set so currently they're kind of ridiculous, but I bet the forum received a lot of donations when the price was lower, which will definitely help them now.

I think you are guys don't read the other comment above as you can see they are majority of earnings from ads from some investors and gambling owners and some of them are from donation.
look at the posted above to know how this forum are stay long and earn.. there is no pay per visitors they are not earnings in that way..
They are offering ads that you can see those ads in whole forum.
