Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

AFAIK you can only accept paypal from coinbase but they don't accept paypal funds from their users so this won't help OP since he needs to buy bitcoins using his paypal

I had good luck buying some from Virwox.
Can be hard getting people to deal with you until you have some trust built up on the site. Sad
You will probably have to find some form of payment that doesnt involve reversible transactions or that allows you to use escrow etc.
