PayPal and Bitcoin are starting to become 'friends' since the Xapo CEO has been hired by them. Maybe we'll see some collaboration, but we have to know and pay attention to one thing: as soon as PayPal or any credit card or bank gets in business with Bitcoin, the Bitcoin's privacy will be over for many of us. I prefer sitting in front of my computer and having a totally anonymous wallet instead of the partnership with PayPal, which also is in partnership with MasterCard etc..

I think it's just because bitcoin is more of a competitor, it's true that PayPal accept bank accounts and creditcards as deposit methods but that's just because they have to as well as them being in a different market "more physical", Bitcoin would be competition for PayPal and even if they make a BTC wallet they wouldn't be able to charge high fees like they do now..

well that's actually only for a bitcoin wallet, but not for bitcoin's address, the transaction history can be traced by using blockchain explorer, and once the owner of the address have been known then it'll also reveal the owner's activity,so it's better to make no one know what's your address to be honest

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Paypal acquired a company that took Bitcoin payments at some point in the future.
It is already happening. PayPal added Bitcoin startup Xapo CEO Wences Casares to board of directors he might be working on some new level of partnership between Xapo and PayPal.
Direct Bitcoin acceptance is doubtful it will be rather done by acquiring bitcoin companies, startups and projects and integration of their services into PayPal portfolio.

http://www.coindesk.com/paypal-xapo-wences-board-directors/

Wow! This is a very good news Cheesy
It will be more convenient for us to transfer our bitcoin or do online shopping because not all online shopping sites accept bitcoin. I'm looking forward to it!

paypal is only looking for making more money from this partnership and nothing else.
but i think it is going to be a good thing for everyone both bitcoin users and those who don't use bitcoin because it will open up a way for an easy access to buying and selling bitcoin for fiat.

Agree Cheesy It would be nice partnership and it will open up the way to easy access to buy bitcoin or exchange your bitcoin from your wallet to your paypal and it could make the community big because paypal is famous then something paypal telling you to try or use bitcoin also Cheesy

I agree. On the bright side, when PayPal integrates Bitcoin, we will see more places where we can pay with our Bitcoin. On the dark side, when this happens, we can be sure that PayPal has a system to monitor Bitcoin transactions and trace them back to people. This system would take one of Bitcoin's good points, which is privacy. I think if PayPal integrates Bitcoin, that's good for us, but we've to be cautious with this system.

I guess they still see bitcoin as more of a competitor than CreditCards and Bank accounts which are the typical ways to deposit into PayPal, These don't really play in PayPal market and they need them but bitcoin would majorly impact PayPal if it goes mainstream.

I don't see bitcoin as a competitor because bitcoin can't be regulated as a credit card or bank account and doesn't belong to any official organization. It won't replace transactions where official documentation and national legality must be followed like at most bank transactions. But I read that more banks are developing their alternative currencies with cryptocurrency technology. I think, they'll develop centralized altcoins, though.

May I know the reason why does Paypal do not accept bitcoin as payment and/or deposit?! I know that Bitcoin is known widely on the internet so Paypal should accept it as a mode of payment since their forte is through the internet. I hope that someday, PayPal will acknowledge Bitcoin and put it as one of the mode of payment in their site. It will be very convenient for us.
you can convert bitcoin to Paypal

For real?! May I know how would that be possible?! I haven't heard such thing. I know that PayPal is not accepting bitcoin on their site and they are still studying about it if they will accept it in the near future.

It is possible now to do this but at high fees and not available to customers in USA.

I believe that what he was going for was that you can exchange your Bitcoin for PayPal using some other means aside from the Paypal website, and I am in full agreement with you, I haven't seen anything from Paypal saying that they're going to accept Bitcoin for sure yet. And we don't even know if they are still interested in it at all.

Paypal Is A Good E-currency and A Payment System But I Don't Like Paypal Because I Heard That Paypal Sometimes Freeze Your Funds For 180 Days For Some Unknown Reasons and It Also Happens With My Friend  So If Paypal Start Accepting Bitcoin Even Then I Don't Want to Use It......

That's what a lot PayPal users are struggling with. In most cases it's suspicion alone that makes PayPal lock people's funds for a certain amount of time. This just shows that they are ruling their entire payment platform with iron fist. But don't worry, PayPal will never incorporate something that eventually can make them vanish. Because that's exactly what Bitcoin is capable of.

Paypal will also finally give in and start accepting bitcoin directly themselves, they are not doing it now, and always what you see and hear on the news is the random third party that has implemented the paypal acceptance in their own sites not the other way around.

Well they may see that bitcoin is going to be a threat to their service as many paypal users are already shifting into bitcoins and that is making their revenue lower.

And if they are going to compete against bitcoin for sure they are going to lose as they are just holding conversion of dollars into local currencies.

But if they are going to accept bitcoins and convert it to dollars and any local currencies for sure this is going to help their revenue increase again.

I'm not sure that paypal will accept bitcoin. Because obviously both very different systems. Might be a lot of changes if it happens because it takes a big change if paypal accept bitcoin. But I'm sure it will not happen.

That change could create a lot of problems with their website or their system so just better not do it. It will take longer maintenance which may also make their cutomers irritated and they could lose some users.

not only some users. they can loose lots of users with this. paypal is totally different and I don't think paypal need to accept bitcoin. users need both service equally both are important for peoples. there is already lots of bitcoin wallet to receive and send bitcoin.. no need to use paypal for the same purpose.
