Is there a way to download/synchronize with the network without having to directly do it through the bitcoin-qt wallet? As it is taking FOREVER for me. I don't mind any size of it I just want to get my wallet done and over with so I can recieve BTC.

 Any links/info would be appreciated.

Thanks

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

You can find a bootstrap torrent over in this thread. Download that file and put it in your bitcoin data directory. New versions of the client will pick that file up and import the blocks. Once it's done, you can exit out of the client and it will have moved the file to bootstrap.dat.old and if you're sure you're sync'd you can delete that file to save the 4 Gigs it takes up.
